Hey in west Philadelphia born and raised on the playground is where he spent most of his days
The new owners of the Philadelphia 76ers no doubt are off to a good start with their city's fans.

New CEO Adam Aron -- whose ownership group includes actor Will Smith and his wife Jada Pinkett Smith -- announced that single-game ticket prices will be far more affordable if and when the lockout ends.

"I'm announcing today that going forward, we are slashing – and I mean slashing – ticket prices on individual game tickets on just under 9,000 seats at the Wells Fargo Center for each and every Sixers home game," Aron said.

Aron said many reductions will be by 50% more and emphasized that, "This is not a sale or a promotion. These are our new ticket prices.

Among the cuts: Tickets in the lower bowl will sell for as little as $29. Last season the cheapest in that locale was $54, according to CSNPhilly.com. Also, some center court tickets in the mezzanine bowl will drop to $20, down from $45 last season.

"Price will not be an obstacle in preventing Philadelphia sports fans from being able to enjoy NBA basketball in person," Aron said as the new ownership group held its first press conference. "Our house is now your house." http://content.usatoday.com/communities/gameon/post/2011/10/76ers-owners-will-smith-slash-ticket-prices/1

Well, they are making it affordable for families which is great but they are also doing this due to the fact the Sixers didn't sell very well during the regular season.

Owners like this is what the league needs.

I doubt Will and Jada own much more than around 1% too. He's only a "part owner" just like Jay-z for the Nets, Nelly for the Bobcats, Usher for the Cavs. While it's cool that Will Smith is part of the ownership team, he definitely did not have any influence whatsoever on the changing of the ticket prices.

Most people seem to say that he's really a down to earth guy, except for the whole Scientology thing.

Damn! That's crazy!! I wish every team would do that. I bet every arena would be filled in every single game if the tickets were that cheap. Lucky sixers fans!

The catch is that these changes only apply for the upcoming season.

Too bad it's a full season lockout.

I....pulled up to a house about seven or eight,
And I yelled to the cabby, "Yo homes, smell you later!"
Looked at my kingdom I was finally there
To sit on my throne as the Prince of Bel Air.

The owners have said this is permanent. Our attendance wasnt good last year and new owners want to fill the building up and make games an event. The CEO has come out and said you cant lose money on empty seats, so slashing prices is better than an empty house.

Obviously ticket prices do change over time, but the new owners have come out and said that they want 76ers game to be affordable to everyone.
