View Full Version : Which PG would you like to see with Howard?

JasonJohnHorn

Simple question. The pick and roll is a classic play, and you need a great center and a great PG to pull it off well. Howard will be going into free agency in less than a year, so who would you all like to see playing alongside Howard at the point?

Hawkeye15

CP3 for sure

duh

put Howard with any top 3 PG in the league and fun things will happen

rose+howard > paul+howard and it aint even close..........im not saying that rose is better than paul, im just saying the way rose plays and the way howard plays would make rose/howard one of the greatest combinations in NBA history.

CP3 and Howard would be awesome but Rose and Howard fast break would be insane.

Pick and roll? Nobody runs it better than Nash. Look what he did for Amare and Marion.

Chris Paul because of age. Nash's shooting abilty and passing in his prime would have been sick.

all of the above will work. Hell, put Dwight next to Steph Curry or Ty Lawson and I'll be excited to watch.

Ty Lawson
He's not any better than Jameer Nelson

To me it is, Ty is gonn be a beast. He played less minutes than Jameer but was more productive, his APER was near 19 and his efficiency was near elite levels. In his second season.

but Ty is not a "passing PG" which probably means most people on this site hate him.

beasted86
10-15-2011, 02:38 PM
Who is voting Rondo? I'd sag off on the pick and roll all day long.

Half season sample doesn't hold much stake. At the end, not really clear cut. Nelson had a down year.

To me its a tie between D Rose and D Williams. Both of their game is so crazy one on one that a two man game between them and Howard would be almost unstoppable. Rondo is a great passer but at the end of the day you can still gamble off him and dare him to shoot.

Nash would also be great to see with Howard as well, I think he'd put up 15+ assist a night playing next to him.

non-pg, Kobe and Howard would be a wonderful thing to watch......

RZZZA
10-15-2011, 02:46 PM
half season sample? Ty played 80 games last year. And 65 games the year before that. Jameer had one great year, his other seasons his production has been lower than Ty's.

Jameer does have higher USG though, I wonder how Tys stats would look if he switched places with Nelson last year.

10-15-2011, 02:48 PM
I voted rose only because that would probably mean D12 is on the Bulls. But I think CP3 would be the best fit.

If I'm a Magic fan, and we're talking one season only, then Steve Nash just over Paul. Nash runs the pick and roll because than anyone. His shooting with also create space for Howard considering Orlando doesn't really have many of those lethal shooters besides Redick.

I only mean that his efficiency took a decent jump after the trade, but we don't know if he can sustain it for a full season, and what his impact will look like once teams start scouting him now that they know he can hurt them in a bigger role.

I just feel it's they are two comparable players without a distinct gap in impact. Neither are premier scorers or passers, just above average.

i went with drose, because I think a scoring PG would be the most beneficial type of PG for Dwight.

I think CP3 is the best PG in the league, but I think Dwight needs a high volume scorer from the PG position.

The way the question was asked. I voted other :p Because I didn't see any Laker point guards up there lol But if the question is who I think would be the best fit then CP3 and DWill come to mind.

Deron!

10-15-2011, 03:27 PM
Not sure why more people haven't said Deron Williams, afterall, he was coached by Gerald Eugene Sloan. The question was who would to want in a pick and roll offense with Howard. Deron ran that to a T with Boozer. Imagine that with Howard...unstoppable.

I was going to add him in as my #2 choice. But I think Paul is easily the right answer here, because of his ability to run an offense and get his guys the ball at the perfect time in the perfect area.

Honestly I think Nash would be the better #2 option after Paul, but Williams would be great as well, no doubt

On a side note how horrible must Jameer be if he can't get 10 assist a night playing with Dwight and a bunch of spot up shooters? Howard catches and finishes anything remotely near the rim and outruns a lot of centers down the floor.......

rondo then a HUGE gap to Deron

not if your talking about pairing him with Dwight. Sure DH's offensive game has improved but he really needs a more balanced PG to help with his offensive deficiencies. Especially if we are staying in the context of this thread of who he would run a pick n' roll best with. In that case Nash in his prime - then CP3 long term - then Deron the clear cut third and a pretty significant drop after that.

More-Than-Most
10-15-2011, 07:14 PM
Nash...Seriously with his shot and passing ability Howard would win the mvp every year. All the other guys on the board cant shot or pass like nash but some might be all around better.

SeoulBeatz
10-15-2011, 07:24 PM
Him and Rondo together would be great.

Actually i don't know if that would be the best pairing though since Rondo still can't shoot a lick. He's possibly the best lob thrower in the game though (CP3 and Nash may have something to say about that) so that should work to his advatnage with all the slashing but you would like to see someone who can spread the floor as well.

That's why CP3 or Deron are my clear picks here. D Rose gets the flash points but he's gonna need to develop a CONSISTENT outside game before I pick him before Cp3.

It's think it's weird that people here are into this thread, but it goes against everything that pro-owner fans hate to see happen.

It's not crazy to think that Howard wants to leave or perhaps a guy like CP3 will leave NOH to join Howard.

If the fans want to see it happen and the NBA benefits from it, is it good for the NBA?

Steve Nash is a man that has been on both extremes.

He played in Dallas where that offensive system was hard for a PG to rack up assists, and now he plays in Phoenix where getting an assist is easy.

yoseppii12
10-22-2011, 10:26 AM
Obviously Nash 5-6 years ago would be ideal because if his pick and roll and shooting ability but I think as of today someone like Rose, a scoring PG, would be the best for Howard.

When you watch the Bulls play and more specifically, when Noah was healthy, you would see all of Rose's missed layups trickle off the rim for Noah to tip a hundred times and try and get a put pack. Sometimes they went in most of the time they didn't.

Now substitute Howard in for Noah and you wouldn't see so many misses. Howard would realistically get 3-5 put backs a game because of Rose. Not to mention Howard is a great defender so putting him in the Bulls rotation would only make him a better compliment to Rose because it would allow the Bulls to get more fast break opportunities.

I don't know how anyone could argue that Howard would be a better fit anywhere else then Rose and the Bulls. Maybe if Rose wasn't on the Bulls you could have a case but at the current state of the teams, the best pairing for Howard has to be Rose and the Bulls.

Jameer Nelson (Healthy)...I hate when superstars change teams, just my opinion.

Greet
10-22-2011, 10:47 AM
Why would Rose be better?

He's not as good of a passer as D-Will/CP3/Nash/Kidd , He's not as efficient of a scorer as D-Will/CP3/Nash.

I guess when he starts chucking up shots (every game basically), Dwight will get the rebound. Other than that I can't really see why he'd be better than those guys.
