Loved Ventura during his time with the Mets. A bit surprising though. Either way, best of luck to him.

this is a shocker. Not a White Sox fan, but I did like watch Ventura play. Great player and hope the Sox do great under him.

So you got Martinez and Alomar Jr. who have paid their dues and you choose Ventura? Good luck Kenny, you'll need it. Time will tell but I have no confidence in this decision.

Maybe when the Rangers play the White Sox - Nolan Ryan can come down and pound Ventura. Best baseball fight ever.

It sucks that outside of Chicago, everyone thinks of Ventura as the guy that rushed the mound on Nolan Ryan. He was a pretty good baseball player too.

Not sure what I think about this move for the White Sox. Dave Martinez or Sandy Alomar made sense. Robin Ventura doesn't make sense right now, but we'll see how it goes the next couple years.

This is a terrible move as a White Sox fan I am really pissed off right now.

Why pass up on more qualified candidates? This is so White Sox

The best career batting avg in college baseball history I believe. Its either him or Rickie Weeks. He had like a58 game hitting streak too.

I heard this on 103.3 FM (ESPN Radio in Dallas) and they said...his contract came with a unique clause, that he doesn't have to show up for games played in Arlington, Tx!

-Since I'm sure someone dumb will comment, I'm aware it's a joke and am not ignorantly passing it off as news.

I don't really see this is a dumb move. Maybe they are considering a fire sale and trying to unload some of these aging players with huge contracts and starting a youth movement.

I'm sure they would love to. But who in their right mind is going to take any of these **** contracts off our hands? Dunn? Rios? Peavy? Would you like your team to trade for any of them? We're stuck.

Ventura was a smart player and a quiet leader in the clubhouse. So he is the anti-Ozzie. Maybe this won't work, but that's coming so far out of left field that I kind of like this move.
