I think your CJ Wilson to the Nationals prediction is fine, except for the terms of the contract. He apparently wants 9 figures over 5 years.

I guess the Nationals are just going to by-pass all of that "development" stuff and just go right to buying their way into the playoffs? CJ AND Prince for $240m? who are they, the Yankees or Red Sox??

Why would the Nats go after Fielder? when they already have a first baseman in Adam Laroche so i don't see them spending money on Fielder.

Yeah, I agree. I could see them going hard hard for Cj Wilson, but i dont see them taking that big of a run on Fielder.

Kuroda will not play for anyone other than the Dodgers. It's the Dodgers or he goes home.

Jeffy25
10-02-2011, 01:02 PM
No way the Cards go after Reyes and there isn't roster space for Buehrle.

being realistic about the Cardinals, they probably bring back Furcal on a one year (4-6 mil) deal, let Jackson go, pick up Dotel's option, and spend the rest of the off-season trying to get Pujols to sign back. If he doesn't, there are in-house solutions (not ideal) but they haven't signed a free agent to even a 2 year deal since 03 when they signed Reggie Sanders. They won't be adding any multi year free agents, especially not Reyes, who they wouldn't have any interest in.

I didn't really read the rest of the posts/predictions, but I can tell you this much about the Cardinals.

I couldn't agree more with your comment about starting pitching. I do think, however, that Scutaro will and should be back for another year or two until Iglesias shows he is either ready or can't handle ML pitching (personally I think he'll be a good ML hitter), and I think Reddick, despite his mistakes down the stretch, will be a viable option in-house for right field. Papi? I'd give him a Tek type deal for a year with an option for the second year. He's 36 and Youkilis has shown alarming signs of breaking down physically. I wouldn't mind seeing Youk spot at DH to give him days off at third, with Lowrie or Aviles spelling him until Middlebrooks is ready to contribute. They also have to decide what to do with Paps. Lot of questions to address this off season, looking forward to seeing how they do it.

From a phillies point of view we will over pay to keep rollins but me myself wouldnt go over 3 years... If you want to give him more per year for less years I am fine but I wouldn't give him 4 or 5 years.

We have no shot at reyes and we wouldn't want him... He will get 7 plus years and we don't like going over 5 years on most deals... We would not let rollins walk and then go and get reyes... If rollins walks we will sign a lesser free agent to fill in the void and bring up a guy come mid season.

10-02-2011, 01:16 PM
The Rangers signed a massive TV deal last year and have $$$$$ to spend, so I'm not sure why you think the Nats would outbid Texas for CJ Wilson on a 5 year contract. If (IF) Wilson does leave, though, you still don't have the Rangers replacing him (which they would). I would think Buehrle would be a candidate. Still, I'm puzzled why you don't have Texas signing any major free agent, considering they won the AL last year, are in the postseason again this year, have money to spend and a good mix of veterans and youth.

Unless the Giant offense improves, I doubt any FA pitcher would sign with SF. ;)

CC won't even be alive in 8 years, so that deal may not be so bad.

I think the deciding factor on who will sign a larger contract between prince and CC could be a competitive gut measuring exhibit. I think prince has the lead now but if the yankees win it this year CC will pack on a lot the few weeks after.

Pujols should get a larger contract but he just can't compete with those two when it comes to stomach size.

To say the Orioles wont do much this offseason i think will be a bit off, with Showalter having a big say in what we are gonna do now i think we will be spending, and not for just stopgaps like Vlad and Derek Lee type guys. Our owner is pretty much handing the keys to Showalter and does whatever the man says.
