The amount of Red Sox vs. Braves World Series predictions are staggering. The amount of Red Sox predictions is damn near all of them.

Just goes to show you how lame ESPN is... anyone can be an analyst. Everybody has an opinion....not entirely surprising either!

Got 3 out of 8 playoff teams correct. That's almost average lol.

ESPN has worthless writers, but this isn't all that bad IMO.

I think 95% of outlets picked a Red Sox-Phillies World Series. I knew it was a bad omen when that was constantly the World Series prediction based completely on free agent acquisitions.

It's the same with the NFL. Always Eagles vs. Patriots. It's the way it is. These people take the "safe" picks. Obviously the Sox were the "safe" pick before the season.

09-29-2011, 03:09 AM
On paper, I would never have had the Sox miss the playoffs.

So I don't argue with the predictions.

redbird89
09-29-2011, 03:09 AM
Mark Mulder did pretty well in his NL predictions:

East champ: Phillies
Central champ: Brewers
West champ: Rockies
Wild card: Cardinals
Champion: Phillies

Only a few of the experts picked the Cardinals to be in the postseason. Two experts actually picked the Cubs to win our division.

The Giants with all due respect are not even close to the Red Sox. The Giants caught lightning in a bottle with a bunch of deadline moves and got unreal performances from not so great players. Credit to their pitching, but why they were crowned perennial contenders is beyond me. They were never that good. And they still aren't. They have great things to build around though. They need to be willing to go get a real bat (or 2...3...4)

The Red Sox were straight up stacked on paper.

i pay attention the NLW since im a dodger fan
i thought they would be good too, but the media acts like they are the best team in baseball

going into the season the Dodgers looked OK too
Kershaw/Bills/Kuroda/Lilly/Garland is nice

Broxton/Kuo/Jansen/Guerrier/Padilla is a nice bullpen
staff was better than the Rockies, and not far from the Giants

offense was going to be rough, but they still had Ethier and Kemp.

but the Rockies of course were going to be the 2nd best team in the NL

i just think they get more hype than they should

Wow people are wrong with pre season predictions. This is a shocker.

I assume all of you perfectly knew how the season would unravel before it began?

Yawn. And I'm not saying this because I'm bitter that the Sox lost. I'm saying it because this happens every single time after the season people laugh at how wrong pre season sports predictions are after the fact.

Steve berthiuame didnt pick philly for anything now that's dumb. No one could get all the predictions right no one expected diamond backs, rays, cardinals, and tigers. So the experts went with what they knew stats and paper. Red sox had best team in AL no question 3 potential MVP candidates. They failed and April caught up with them in my opinion it all goes back to that dreaded start 0-10? They said no team ever made post season starting 0-10.

http://www.abc2news.com/dpp/sports/baseball/orioles/7-bold-baseball-predictions-for-2011-season

Highlights: The Astros would be good because "Myers, Happ, and Rodriguez are great," the Phillies wouldn't win the East because "Madson proved in 2010 that he couldn't close games," the Orioles would finish over .500 because "Buck Showalter won't tolerate the losing culture," and he picked Arizona to be the worst team in baseball.

If anyone can find a set of worse predictions, I would love to see them.

Buster, Pablo and Freddy are a real 2..3..4, Buster was just starting to heat up when he got hurt. The Panda had was the Panda again. and all three were hurt last year.
