Add one Star player that played for your franchise that was good but never won a title, to make your team better and create your new lineup.

IE. Chicago Bulls

Add - Either Jerry Sloan at SG or Artis Gilmore at Center

New Lineup
PG Rose
SG Sloan
SF Deng

SG Bogans

IE. Lakers - Elgin Baylor
Heat - Tim Hardaway

Those are just some examples.

NOTE: Stuff like Hakeem on the Raptors didn't count as he was not good on that team. The player had to still be a star player for your franchise.

I realize Alonzo Mourning technically won a championship in 2006, but I almost feel like it doesn't count because he had such little impact in that title. If I were a Heat fan and I had to pick one player in the spirit of this thread, I would easily take Mourning over Hardaway or Rice.

not that it'd make a huge improvement over the rest of the team, but we might make the playoffs with a lineup like that

Ewing's 2nd best scorer was starks. Starks would be the equivalent to denver's jr rider.

Of course he ddnt win. plus having to fight through a better center in hakeem (only) and jordan.

If knicks could have only gotten him a legit #2 guy. I loved starks but we all know he would be a #3 scoring option or just the 3 point specialist on most teams.

By the time ewing did get help (LJ, houston, sprewell), he was in his final 4 sseasons...think of shaq's final four seasons. He was helpful but in no way a central part of the team in those final years.

So ewing would make this new NY TEAM unstoppable.

Great defense. You see vids of ewing getting knocked down, but that's cause he didnt back down. What those Guys that show those vids dont show is he most probable conclusion of getting a block, altering the shot a lot. Amare would learn what it'd mean to be a true defensive force.

Ewing, melo, stat, billups.

That'd be the pecking order. Ewing with the inside out post game game plus defense. Melo with the mid range and outside game. Stat as the mid range and driving.

Awesome.

Awesome.

Truly, I would LOVE to have seen it.

Ewing rolled over on Don Nelson because Nellie wanted to run the offense thru Anthony Mason (which truly wasn't a bad idea).

Sharing the glory with Amare AND 'Melo would have had Ewing demanding a trade.

Wade is on the Heat now. The point is to take your current team and add a former great who never won a championship.

Although he still cheated. Alonzo Mourning won a championship. "I almost feel like it doesn't count" makes no sense. And this is just for fun anyway.

Starks equivalent would be Joe Johnson nowadays not no freaking JR Rider or Smith.

You'd be surprised JB. Starks never had a regular season PER any higher than 16.4, never had more than 7.5 win-shares in a given season, never cracked any higher than 0.146 in win-shares per 48. Starks career average in PER is 14.0.

Joe Johnson has posted a PER of 16.4 or higher on six different seasons and has posted higher than 7.5 total win-shares on three separate occasions.

When you look at JR Smiths numbers, he's actually had three separate seasons where he surprised Starks regular season peak PER as well.

Again, surprising but those are the numbers. His numbers are on par with J.R. Smiths.

For a Knicks fan there is no question, Patrick Ewing.

Now for the Wolves fan, you cant take KG cause he has a ring.

For the Heat fans, you cant take Zo cause he won a ring with the Heat on top of that. I think you guys would be better off with Tim Hardaway running the show for you or even placing Lebron or Wade at the point and placing Mashburn in the lineup.

Just my view on things.
