It had to happen. No NY team would have NJ in front of the team name. It was only gonna be Brooklyn Nets.

I don't expect the logo to change. Colors will be predominantly red. I think they'll keep their current red ones or spice it up a little. I'm hoping for the grey throw back and/or the retro rwb of 32's days w/o short shorts.

Yes. They might as well. There isn't any better name and the rumored name "Brooklyn New Yorkers" is just awful.

I live in NJ and the arena in Brooklyn is closer to me than the one in Newark, and the drive from Newark to Brooklyn is 20 minutes.

I dont. NJ fans are terrible and didnt support their team even while they were winning. NY fans are more passionate. The Nets will do very well in Brooklyn

agreed. unfortunately with the bad seasons, and the Knicks and 76ers in the area, it takes away from the Nets. At least Hockey is still in NJ.

My point meaning why did they have to keep the New Jersey name.. no one else does......that being said they will be ok in Crooklyn.. you still have the Knicks who dominate this city:D So Jay Z can do all the concerts he wants nobody is flipping to the Nets:eyebrow:

I mean NY as it compares to NJ in terms of fan support. Brooklyn is already embracing the Nets while in NJ let alone when the arena is done and they make the move.

I know right! Everytime there is news about the Knicks or a Knicks player on a poll on here the Knicks fans flock the forum and the world is supposed to care.... When there is news of Brooklyn and the Nets it turns into a bait fest from NY fans that feel threatened and NJ fans that feel entitled. Damn the rivalry is gonna be good!

The will be and always will be only one true NY basketball team and that is the NY KNICKS! The Knicks should make it their business to win the first 20 games between the two teams once they move to Brooklyn.

who cares? call them whatever you want to call them... they have only won 50 games ONCE in their 35 year history... so they are pretty much the definition of irrelevant at this point...

They should have changed their name from the "NETS". Really stupid to keep that name, what were they thinking? "NETS" has a stigma of being a 2nd rate team and a losing history, why would the geniuses not change the name? dumb *****

Eh, I don't really mind them keeping the Nets name. I would have liked something different though. I hope they at least give them some new jerseys/different colors.

BTW, I don't think anyone should be surprised at the Knicks fans' response to this. They talk about how horrible the Nets are and how no ones cares they are moving to Brooklyn, yet they are all in this thread taking the time to comment.

Stay classy Knick fans.

It's easier to get to the new arena in Brooklyn from any of the other boroughs and Long Island than it is to get to the Prudential Center in Newark. Plus, even though it's pretty much the same area, Brooklyn sounds a lot better than anywhere in New Jersey to a lot free agents.

Very true.. call them what you want, NJ is not NY and free agents know that. I liked the Brooklyn Knights as a potential name. I never like Jay-Z's idea of the Brooklyn Ballers. It just sounded dumb.

6th most active among NBA teams on PSD. That's not too bad for a team with no fans.

I don't care if there are no other Nets fans around me. They're my team. The owners might care if they're popular but I don't.
