NBA 2K12 Will Not Include Rookies (http://www.pastapadre.com/2011/09/07/nba-2k12-will-not-include-rookies)

NBA 2K12 will not include any of the rookies drafted in June as confirmed through a blog posting at Operation Sports from a long-time member who attended a PR event for the game yesterday.
The plan would be to add the rookies through a roster update but that could only be done once the lockout is lifted and at this point that seems unlikely to happen anytime soon. In the meantime players like #1 pick Kyrie Irving, #2 pick Derrick Williams, Kemba Walker, Jimmer Fredette and all those chosen in the 2011 NBA Draft will be absent from NBA 2K12.

Lockout screws over Real Basketball and Video Game Basketball :pity:

well the game is licensed through the NBA, and the rookies technically are not part of the nba as of now. They are not under contract. On the other hand, they have free agents in the game who arent under contract???

That freakin sucks!!!

yes, but its pretty common knowledge. The same thing happened in Live 99 during the 98 lock out. jamison, Pierce, Dirk, Larry Hughes, Vince Carter were all missing from the game

so what? you can d/l them when the lockouts lifted..and there's usually only 2 or 3 impact rookies a season anyways

thats funny, cuz most of them are on 2k11. After you play a season on franchise, project draft class and they are included.

yeah, but if you have a fav team, its fun to make your rookies a part of the rotation just to try something new. Even if the rookie isnt an NBA superstar.

They aren't members of the NBAPA officially so legally it makes perfect sense.

Sucks but it is what it is.

you don't have to be under contract, you just have to be part of the NBAPA and the rookies are not while the free agents are so they will be in the game

Well, my excitement for this game just went in the toilet. I know there are people like me on here that will not even think about buying this game now. Madden sucks *** and now 2k12 will too. I'm just about done with the NBA altogether.

Someone will upload rosters with created rookies then start an online league with those rosters. It will be bad, but not so bad.

No rookie meansno pictures of them when they're updated. So that would suck. NBA 2k12 is a waste of 60 bucks right now.

even if they keep the rookies out of the game, as long as there still is a 2k share feature like in 2k11 then someone will make a downloadable roster with all the players with somewhat accurate ratings. hell, ive already downloaded all those guys for the draft in my association's 2nd year.

This is defiantly going to put a pause in my decision on buying...2k Share is nice but, Created Players all look the same in my opinion.

So basically I have to download them from other users? All those player look generic (obviously). This kind of sucks.

That's why lockouts suck. They even mess with the video games. :(

Does that also mean no audio regarding names?
EX: the announcer saying "Kemba Walker with the cross-over"

lol

edit: meaning when/if the lockout ends and when/if they update the rosters.

oh come on...2k will still be sick with the new legends mode, the revamped my player and sick graphics to boot.

LOL go ahead and get NBA elite this year... the lock out edition

I do too because they are low cost pertaining to the salary cap... but some of them are way too overrated when it comes to trade value.

There should be plenty of downloadable draft rosters; it's not the same but they are pretty good. I think I have Brandon Knight and Derrick Williams on my squad right now.

What about making them under fake name and likenesses like games used to do with MJ and Barry Bonds
