As a baseball fan, I think it's pretty remarkable that 2 teammates on a non contending team could both win the Triple Crown. Right now....
Kershaw: 2.27 ERA, next closest is 2.38
20 wins, next closest is tied at 20, then 18
242 K, next closest is 232.

You gotta like his chances to take it home. As for Kemp, it's very possible.

Kemp: .326 average....4 points behind the leader
36 home runs...1 behind the leader
118 RBI, 5 ahead of the next closest.

What are everyone's thoughts about the seasons they are having?

Kemp is .004 behind Braun in batting average (.326 to Braun's .330), and 1 HR behind Pujols (36 to 37). He leads the league in RBI's, 5 up on Howard (118 to 113).

He's literally right there. He can easily still get the triple crown.

Yes. No way do the voters not elect him MVP. A Rod got it on the Rangers and Andre Dawson got it on the Cubs who were in last place.

i wish they could read my post

Prince: 35 HR. Braun's main protection

players hitting directly behind Kemp this year(either 4th or 5th): 13 HR

it's a shame that because the Brewers have a better overall team that Braun will edge Kemp.
Kemp's fault Lilly, Uribe, Billingsley, Loney, Barajas, Navarro, Blake, Furcal all sucked this year
Braun is totally the reason Marcum, Greinke, Gallardo, Prince, Weeks, Fielder, Axford are all doing well this year

Kemp is the MVP just imagine how bad the team would be without him. And just think of the numbers he'd be putting up if he had a feared hitter hitting in front or behind him. And to top if off he's playing the bad Padre's for 2 more game then the Diamondbacks who are gonna be setting up their roster for the playoffs and its gonna be here in AZ which is a major hitters park.

You cann't vote Kemp MVP when Braun has almost the same stat line and 15 or so wins on him on a playoff team. Kershaw probably deserves cy young but there is no mention of valuable in that award. Without Kershaw and Kemp the Dodgers only win 60 games but they still need alot.

So you're saying that if Kemp wore a Brewers jersey instead of a Dodgers jersey, he would suddenly bring much more to his team?

I'm not quite sure why the value of approximately 40 home runs, 40 stolen bases, and a 1.000 OPS changes depending on the jersey & hat of the player wearing it.

If you're going to use the team argument, doesn't the value go up when he's doing this on a bad team because he has less protection than he'd have on a contender? I can certainly understand Keith Law's frustration trying to explain all season long that "most valuable" and "best" mean the same thing.

That's why Braun has seen 41.7% of pitches thrown in the strike zone and Kemp has seen 45.4%. That's probably partly a factor of Kemp facing the NL West teams more because they in general have better pitching that the NL central, but I'm not buying the whole protection in a line up argument.

I'm not saying Kemp shouldn't win MVP (he probably should). Braun has been the slightly better hitter this year though (per fWAR). The only major difference between the season Kemp has put up and the season Braun has put up is the positional adjustment which account for nearly 1 fWAR. There's definitely value in positional adjustments, but I'm just not sure how much BBWA values it. We all know many voters value being on a contending team (which is unfortunate).
