The 25 year old Japanese sensation has been rumored to be coming to the US for the last 3 or 4 years. If he were to make the trek this year how much would you pay for him.

Here are he stats excluding this year (couldn't find)

W L GS CG IP H R ER HR BB K ERA WHIP
12 5 24 3 149 128 55 48 12 64 115 2.89 1.28
15 5 26 12 207 123 48 42 9 49 210 1.82 0.83
16 4 24 10 200 136 44 42 11 44 208 1.88 0.90
15 5 23 8 182 118 36 35 9 45 167 1.73 0.90
12 8 25 10 202 158 48 40 5 47 222 1.78 1.01

His posting rate should be around dice-k's 50 million.

The big teams will be all over him when he ships over no doubt, he throws in the upper 90's, with the best curveball I've seen on tape. Watch the clip if you don't believe me.

More than what Dice K got.

I think it will take a few years for Darvish to be able to translate correctly in the big leagues.

I think he is really just a potential number 3 starter, I don't personally see him as an ace.

So what I would pay for any number 3 starter, 10-12 mil a season, his age and track record help him.

Maybe 5/50, but with posting fees and salary, he might cost 100 million.

I think he'd get about 6 years 72 million plus a 50 million dollar posting from the Yanks. Anywhere else maybe 5 yrs 55 million. Although that's a pretty big risk considering he's basically played against minor league talent his whole life. I'd don't see him realistically coming over until his contract runs out whenever that is.

Oh if I was a GM? No idea. Less than Dice-K though, that was ridiculous.

I think he's got to get a bigger offer than Dice-K.

Unless Dice-K scared the market.

I can see someone offering $130M (includes posting fee). Equates to about 80M for 7 years (11M per).

I think he's more than a #3 starter, unless you're the phillies.

I see him getting a fair amount, he's only 25 and the only knock on him is he has a ton of innings on his arm already, but other than that he look totally worth the money, unless he winds up like all the other Japanese pitchers.

This is just scary. I was on there for less than a minute and the athlete I clicked on made over $40 in that time.

Darvish is good for any team but for the right price. Obviously Yankees are not going to start the season with Colon/Garcia in the rotation again, so they will be interested.

Darvish is not like the other Japanese pitchers that have come here to pitch. He has a totally different makeup and aresenal of pitches. You probably will be reluctant to sign an unprove U.S. pitcher for Dice-K money but thats probably what he will cost.

I would offer 3 yrs/$9 million but that's just me. I just don't trust Japanese pitching and even that third year would scare me.

My buddy sent me that site the other night in a text, and his text said

'Albert Pujols just made $439.43 in the time it took me to poop.'

I'm wondering if he will even start in the big leagues, or if a team would find it beneficial to start him in Triple A

I highly doubt a team would start him in AAA with the amount of money he's going to cost

Chapman got 30 mil and started in Triple A.

I'd rather go fo CJ wilson a proven commodity----hes the real deal I'd like Darvish but with the posting fee for an unproven guy go spend it and if it doesnt work well LOL to who does ala Dice-K

Chapman was 20-21 with little success outside of the WBC. Darvish has done everything outside of the MLB. It's not like no Asain pitchers have turned out well, Nomo and Park started out amazing, Darvish has much better stuff than them. His parents went to college in the us and he should have a little knowledge of the atmosphere.

i see the postin fee of 50 mill and 6yr 80...yes he is a japanese pitcher but relys on fastball with offspeed instead of offspeed with a fastball translates better to mlb ...if yankees get him it wont matter price the asian fan base will comeback to uyankee stadium rmr all the love matsui got and i heard he is just as popular. they will make there money back ...the problem is they wont go after him if cj is cheaper and cc comes back
