Magic Johnson fo' sho. Maybe John Stockton and definitely a healthy Chris Paul. That's probably it. Nash and Kidd may have a case, but I think when it's all said and done, the impact Howard has had will be too much.

we have to remember, Dwight's complete dominance amongst his position must be taken with a grain of salt. He really doesn't have any competition now that Yao is gone. Many of the great centers of all time also had to face other top centers ever. So when we are picking 3-4 of the top PG's ever, its an easy call to pick them over Dwight imo.

Please don't think I am taking anything away from Dwight, he may very well go down as a top 10 center ever. But he just doesn't have the challenges of yesterday's centers, where Magic, Stockton, Big O, Kidd, Nash, Paul, these guys have been going against great competition for years.

Depends what era we are in. If its in today's NBA then maybe Magic, Oscar Robinson and Stockton (fringe on CP3 and Zeke). If its 10 years ago then there are a lot of PGs I rather have than Dwight: Magic, Oscar Robinson, Stockton, Isiah Thomas, Bob Cousy, CP3, Kidd, Walt Frazier, Steve Nash, Gary Payton (maybe Kevin Johnson and others depending on whos already on my team).

Basically what everybody has said and Jason Kidd.

Oh and Derrick Rose, since he's the best player in the NBA anyways.

Good question. Dwight is already an all time great center it is just a matter of him continuing to perform at a high level for a few more years and for him to win a title to really carve his place as an elite center. By elite, I mean top 7 to 8 range. So, based on what I have seen from him, there are only a few point guards I would take over him. I would take Magic, Oscar and maybe Isaiah over him, but that is about it.

He is? We are talking all Centers all time? For what? A year or a career? Is experience winning anything important?

Howard looks great to those without a lot of experience watching Centers over the past say 50 years given that the state of low post play is at or near an all time low over the past 50 years. I think in the '80-'00 time frame he might have found the going a little tougher.

I agree. There's also the question mark of Dwight's offense. It has gotten better over the years but it's not all the way there yet and we can't know for sure how much he'll improve there.

Great point guards have rarely led their team to a championship. Great Centers? I think most of them have won at least one championship.

So very few I guess, practically. But for entertainment value? Probably most of them.
