View Full Version : Least favorite player on your favorite team

Having noticed an insane of homerism on PSD over the years, I thought it would be interesting to start a thread where you ridiculous homers would have to say something negative about your own team. So, if you had to pick one player to say you like the least (or flat out hate, if you're brutally honest) on your favorite franchise, who is it? And it can be any reason. Maybe the guy is a tool off the court, a huge ball hog, can't hit an open jumper to save his life, refuses to play defense, whatever. Give me the name of the player and why he's your least favorite...

I'll start with my own Houston Rockets...

Terrence Williams. There's multiple reasons for it. For one, every time he plays on the court, whether it's for one minute or ten minutes, he is guaranteed to make at least one "what the **** was he thinking?" play. Maybe it's an atrocious pass or a 30 foot jumper with 20 seconds left on the shot clock. He never fails in that area. He also generally plays like he thinks he's way better than he really is. He throws passes he can't make and shoots any open jumper, no matter how far he is from the basket.

And the worst part about it is that I keep hearing from Rockets fans about how "we should give the guy a chance" and "he's got so much talent." But he just comes off as an arrogant douche who doesn't know his own limitations and has little desire to learn or be coached. I don't care if the guy is a good defender. I would rather watch Chase Budinger (a humble, nice guy who is well liked and has reached out to the community) play 48 minutes of his version of "defense" than give up one minute of that playing time to "T-Will."

And that's another thing. I think nicknames like that should be reserved to players who don't suck. Until you put up 20 points a night or are consistently at least the second best player on your team, you don't deserve an abbreviated nickname. Period.

Miami Heat- Joel Anthony. Yea some of the fans chant MVP for him and it's funny and all but in reality he is worthless. All he's good for is coming in and getting a block or 2. mediocre rebounder for his size and absolutely useless on offense, your better off with a tree stump.

Hard to dislike anyone after a championship in all honesty. efore this season Terry was high on my list. I'm not a huge Roddy B fan either but I don't dislike him I just don't think he is this future stud all other Mavs fans feel he is.

Tony Parker
While I appreciate what he can do for the Spurs, I loathe him. I think he's a preening diva who exaggerates contact, flings himself around, and basically behaves like a wussy. I especially detest his pathetic play against Memphis this past postseason. He played like he didn't give a crap. Manu was the one injured, but Parker played like the injured one. And yes-the series was lost on much more than Parker's piss poor play, but he was a significant reason. He also tends to ball hog and chuck up horrible shots at the worst time. He's not alone in this-plenty of NBA players do this. But I think I'll just whine about him right now.
I'm also aware that this post might verge on the illogical, but you did ask and he's the one I totally and completely detest. Looks like his French team matters more to him than the Spurs-he's playing very well for them...like he should have done against Memphis.

. At least Joel tries and actually makes a solid impact defensively. He may not be good at all on offense, but he is super hard worker and hustles his *** off no matter how many minutes he does or doesn't play. I would say Erica Dampier is far more useless.

Raptors: I can think of 2. First of all, Bargnani, who doesn't seem to give any effort out there at times.

Second for me is Barbosa. I don't really hate him, but I see him as a partial block to the rebuild. I mean, he probably won't be around when the team becomes relevant again, and he takes shots/plays away from the younger players like Derozan/Davis/Bayless/etc. I was REALLY hoping that he would have declined his P/O and decided to go join a contender like Miami or Dallas, but unfortunately that didn't happen.

A lot of Laker fans have a love hate relationship with Pau Gasol. But only because his brilliance is inconsistent. He has played beneath his ability during two key moments during his short Laker tenure. He displayed lack of focus and intensity during the 2008 NBA Finals & the 2011 playoffs. During the championship series of the 2008 playoffs (WCF+Finals) he averaged 14 ppg.

Obviously he was brilliant in 2009 and 2010, no rings without him.

I can take that from Pau because those times when he struggled, the whole team sucked. A lot of guys struggled in the '08 Finals and '11 play-offs, for different reasons.

Pau just seems to go as the team goes, he is by far the best second option in the league when Kobe is playing well but he can rarely be relied upon to put the team on his back for long stretches in the season or play-offs. I'm fine with that though because he always plays within his limits.

Don't get me wrong, I'll take it too. The results from when his head is in the game speak for themselves. I'd put Odom in the same boat too. All the talent in the world; checks out mentally far too often. But really I love both players. Those are the two I get most frustrated with, I guess.

I didn't think it was possible until this year. Dump it into Darko. He dribbles, spins, is wide open from 2 feet, and then spins and fades into the middle of the lane for a 7 foot hook falling away. Anytime he does actually dunk, the next whistle he runs to the sideline with a pulled vagina.

Visit the Wolves board during GT's. I crush on him

I'd agree with that. When Gasols post season PER is under 20.0, and his TS% under .55, LA has been knocked out. When his PER cracks 20.0 and his efficiency is around the .600 mark LA hasn't lost.

With that being said, Gasol could "go" to the moon and back and not take a Lakers team without Kobe Bryant any farther than the semis in a stacked WC.

When Pau is on his game, LAL is very tough to beat.

Very inefficient, not a good spot up shooter, takes isolation plays far, far too often, doesn't pass enough for the amount of possessions he takes, mediocre defensively, and too well-liked despite his faults.
