View Full Version : Ideal PG/SG and PF/C combos

If you had the opportunity to get two players in the back court or in the PF/C positions, who would you chose whose games would be complimentary to one another?

In the Back Court, I think that a Nash/Wade combo would be excellent. Wade can drive and get open for passes from Nash. One flaw with Wade is his 3 point percentage. Since Wade is a good passer and would likely draw dbl teams, he could kick it out to Nash when he gets the DTs.

PF/C, I think that Dirk/Howard would be the best possible. Dirk can score with the best of them, but defensively/rebounding (especially on the offensive boards) is subpar. With Dwight there, it would be almost impossible to stop both of them.

If I had to use players from my favourite team as part of the combo (and trying to avoid pairing two super-stars together):

Calderon-Wade
Bargnani-Howard (Howard would likely average 20 rebounds per game, since Bargs gets out-rebounded regularly by a 6 footer )

What are some other ideas of ideal combos? Also, try and think of combining one of the players on your favorite team with someone else out there that would compliment him.

Amare and Howard. That would be the most athletic PF/C combination in sports' history.

a lot of possibilities with PF/C

I like the OP's choice of Dirk/Howard

I am going to go with Love/Howard because I am a homer....but also cause it makes sense...there would be no rebounds left for any team, and Dwights defensive ability would mask Loves defensive inability.

Howard is really the only C choice you can go with, and there are so many PFs to put with him...Blake/Howard would be incredible athletically....KG/Howard = omg defensively...

man, this thread really makes me wanna see an all star PF team with Dwight

PG, SG...
Paul, Wade for the dish and score combo
Nash, Iggy for the set your hole team up combo
Paul, Kobe for the championship

Pau+Dwight.
Dirk+Dwight
Bargs+Dwight
Stou+Dwight
Bosh+Dwight

Option B = any of the aforementioned PFs with Marc Gasol isntead of Dwight.

Not a fan of pg + sg combos.

Avoiding 2 "superstars" I would go howard and Aldridge.

PG has to be a great passer, so I'm choosing Nash (homer and he IS the best at passing)
SG could be the slasher of Wade or a shooter like ray ray

Nash/Wade or Paul/Wade would be perfect.

Dwight/Dirk by far would be the best bigmen combo.

Going back to the difficulties of pairing someone to play with Iverson, I think that Iverson and Kirk Hinrich would have made a great backcourt.

I've seen some Bull fans think that Ray Allen beside Rose would be a great idea. Another combo that I think would be interesting would be a Rose-Tyreke Evans Combo. He did struggle this year with his shot, but he has proven in first two years that he's going to be a playmaking shooting guard ( about 6 assists per game in both of his seasons). Of course, this would likely never happen though. Curry-Evans would make another killer combo.

Bargs/JV.... Raptor fans can hope, right? :D

CP3/Wade or Rose/Wade

for 4-5 combos it's easy. Just Dwight+offense. Even Dwight+defense works, so I won't bother pairing him up with anyone specific.

For the 1-2 combo, my biggest fear would be both players to be ball dominant taking away from each other's game. So if I were to put a paul, or a nash with someone, I'd want an off the ball threat like a ray ray or a prime-time peja. Or you could go the other way and have a dynamic scorer of the kobe/wade/jordan mould and pair him up with a defensive pg like payton. Kobe/Payton......wow.

lol, I should have guessed that most people would have Howard on their 5 since him Scalabraine and James are basketball gods.... How about without him? That basically leaves centers that are defensive specialists (Chandler, Noah) and some are much better offensively (Jefferson, Lopez).

I think a KG-Lopez front court would be very effective overall.
