Im prepared for the worst this Line should have blocked well against that weak Denver Line but they destroyed our O-line.

Why does it always seem like most of our starters always get injured?

I am a bit worried about Okung as well i do not like hearing "Okung should be ready" that means there is still a chance he misses the game.

Injured meaning that they're just a tad sore and we want to save them for week one.

I heard an interview with Carroll who said Okung will be ready for week one.

Not sure I agree Denver has a weak line. Dumervil is a beast and healthy.

Hope we see a lot of Charlie with some of the first squad at least. I really think he should be starting for the Hawks at this point. If the line is gonna stink we need someone who can hit hot routes and check down. Not a glance down field tuck and get sacked that we've seen with TJ.

The lockout has really hurt this team as far as the offensive line is concerned. Essentially, there are 4 new starters on this line (Gallery, Unger, Moffit, and Carpenter) with a second year LT. These guys might well take this entire year to get the cohesion they need to be where they want to be. Moreover, those new in-season practice rules could bite this unit in the butt. The thing you need as an O-line is time and, unfortunately, these guys were robbed of some of that time. I hope to see some improvement but I'm willing to cut these guys some slack for sure.

"weak 4"? C'mon maaan!

Raidaz4Life
09-02-2011, 11:43 AM
I honestly don't expect our first unit to play much if at all so I highly doubt you guys have much to worry about in regards to your O-line being dominated. I am looking forward to seeing the matchup though as I am still a big Gallery fan and you guys have a load of talent down there on the offensive side of the trenches.

Uh, huh? Elvis Dumervil lead the AFC in sacks recently and Von Miller was the best pass rusher in the draft.

Yea, But beyond those 2 who do they have on the D-Line that are any good? I mean Vickerson was starting at DT i believe and he is a 3rd or 4th DT on a good D-Line.

It does not matter, when you got Dumervil and Von Miller on opposing team then you know your QB is gonna be eating dirt. Von Miller is already showing his game has transitioned, he is one of the best most overlooked picks from the draft.

I meant since being picked he has gotten 0 talk. Fairly gets talked about tons for falling to Lions. Bowers is talked about for his Quinn like fall. Cam is talked about simply because Panthers "Have nothing better". Yet a player who is good as Von Miller has not been talked about since third pick the draft came in.

There 3rd string QB gets talked about to much though.

I still don't see how carrol can start t-jax. Hopefully he is just giving him one series with the starters and then puts charlie in. I didn't know this til today but whitehurt has the top passer rating this year in the pre-season, and also led the pre-season last year in passing yards. Yes, I realize its only pre-season and he mostly has gone against 2nd string d's but at the same time he is throwing to your lower stringed wr's.

Are you guys watching the same game? Cause Jackson made one bad pass on the first drive? Am I going to be hearing this all season long? Whitehurst had a couple nice throws. Jackson didn't look great, he looked serviceable. His long throw do Tate was TERRIBLE man coverage. He was a little inaccurate on his short throws, notably the first throw of the game, and the pass before the FG, was way low and away from Tate.

Tate almost screwed Charlie on the tipped ball, he didn't continue towards the ball, he stood almost still, and waited for the ball. And the defender made a good play to go over Tates back(might have got there early) and tip the ball. Other than Charlies first throw, and his sack, he has looked very solid.

Jackson did not look great, he looked mediocre at best. Whitehurst was way better.

Biggest play on his drive was made on a bad pass. He threw a padd pass that was knocked down and we got lucky it wasnt picked, and instead we got big yards. If that was picked and taken the other way you wouldnt be talking. He got lucky. That was a forced pass into coverage just like Jacksons pass. Jackson moved the chains very well on both his drives. That is the reason he got yanked already. Carrol saw what he wanted to see.

Well irregardless of what you think, I think both Qb's have room to improve but Jackson has continued to do so and looked better today. His job to lose. Defender was right there though. He made a good play. Throw may not have been as bad as Jacksons and yeah Tate was probably equally to blame. I saw the play twice. Offense looked better with Jackson. Last drive there the ball went no where. If not for the lucky play that could have been the last drive as well. Some times you get a little luck. If you saw enough out of two drives from both our Qb's to make a change then hey send Pete a tweet LOL. I saw a couple mistakes by both guys but I saw Jackson look solid the drive after his mistake, and keep the chains moving. I want to see Jackson out there with Lynch, Williams, and Rice. I wasn't on the Charlie wagon until tonight. I usually respect the coaches' decisions and I was skeptical all pre-season on switching sides on which qb we should start. This is the first game we actually got to see Charlie against first team d. IMO, i think he out played Tavaris, hands down (Although I think T-Jack's play has improved this game, as well). The bottom line is that Charlie got it done and Tavaris got us an interception (which HE threw it into double coverage...Bad play!).

But regardless, of what I think (or anyone else in this forum thinks), PC is starting TJ and I'll be cheering him every time he steps on the field.

I look at it as, without any of the top 3 targets Charlie can move the ball and at least manage the game. That is something Tarvaris has not shown. Now I would like to see Tarvaris with the ENTIRE offense at full strength. Just saying Charlie with substantially less to work with has looked as good if not better every game.

I don't get it Whitehurst looks good against backups and he's better than Tarvaris? It's the 2's and 3's guys that may not make the team Charlie is throwing against. Tarvaris has mainly been without the key starters he would have if it was a regular game. Clearly Carroll wasn't trying to evaluate Jackson vs. Whitehurst. He's confident in Jackson and was more interested in testing other players.

Don't let Clipboard's performances against the back-ups give you a false sense of confidence. Sure it's not his fault he never got his shot with/against the starters, but with a shorten offseason you can't blame Pete for giving the guy he feels is best (T-Jax) all the snaps with was the majority of starters(the ones that did play for the most part).

Probably due to Jackson having 3 terrible passing games.

Im prepared for the worst this Line should have blocked well against that weak Denver Line but they destroyed our O-line.

Denver has a good end in Dumervill. Another solid DE, with potential in Ayers. Plus Miller is a stud OLB that will basically be used to only rush the pass.

Charlie is also playing with backup WR, RB, and O-line. You got to think about that. It's not just that he's putting up good stats, but that he's reading the defense, looks calm, and has a bit of swag. It looks like Hass tought him well.

I think Charlie is the better QB. But with how our O-line is playing, I think T-Jack will honestly give us the best chance of winning. Charlie is mobile but T-jack is a better athlete and get away from the pressure. If we don't get our O-line figured out it's gonna be a a long season.

Jackson looked just as good as Whitehurst when going up against backups though i mean did you watch last preseason game where PC left him in the 3rd Quarter and he led a TD drive? The Offensive Line just needs to protect better and then we will be able to make a real decision if Jackson is good or not.

1st and foremost the time Whitehurst has been afforded in the pocket is a huge advantage. In preseason it more about pitch and catch with the 2nd team offense versus 2nd team defense. Most DC's like to keep it pretty vanilla you couple that with the fact that defense is about a team scheme while being WR is about an individual route 2nd team offenses have a big advantage over 2nd team defenses in the passing game.

My whole thing was with people ripping on Charlie because he went against backups. You can go both ways. Jackson never got protection and Charlie did.
