"Win it all," Artest said when asked what will the Lakers do in the 2011-2012 season. "Win the whole thing. That's a guarantee."

Artest didn't sound as confident about guaranteeing that he and his dance partner, Peta Murgatroyd, would win in "Dancing with the Stars," admitting "that's going to be a problem. There may be a lot of uncertainty heading into next season, particularly with how Coach Mike Brown will lead a team whose years are dwindling in securing more titles. But consider Artest made a similar guarantee prior to the 2009-2010 season when he they should point it right at me, throwing tomatoes and everything." We all know how that turned out.

Smith then asked what can the general public do to Artest should his guarantee go sour.

"We're going to win," he answered. "You can do anything you want to do. Whatever you want to do, you do it."

Well, he's right. Nobody expects him to say "No, we are not gonna win it."
If you can't believe you can win, you will never win. And Lakers are still very very capable of coming out of the west. Now I am not sure they could beat a Miami Heat or a healthy Celtics team in the finals. But anything is possible.

don't mind the confidence, but it still annoys me when little **** heads guarantee chips. Plus not to mention the fact there probably won't be a season. Way to go artest, making yourself look more like a ******* then you already are.

Maybe with a Healthy Kendrick Perkins. Last time I checked though, he's not wearing green anymore.

Good for Metta. Trying to instill some fire into a team that has appeared to be fading.

Cmon guys, its still the Lakers. They will contend.

I'm not a big fan of that coach they hired. They're still a huge question mark to me as to whether they'll truly contend, not to mention that Pau and Kobe are getting up there in age though I did hear somewhere that Kobe's knee felt better than it has in quite some time.

I think I have made clear that I loved the Mike Brown hiring, because I think he is a complete moron when it comes to offense.

But they still have the best frontcourt in the NBA, and Kobe Bryant. That alone makes them a top 4-5 team.

Yeah there frontcourt is still the best in the NBA. They need to be healthy though, otherwise the challenge could be even more daunting. A healthy and rejuvenated Kobe Bryant would do wonders too, which I think will occur knowing him and his competitive spirit. I will be very interested in watching them.

For Crize-Sake, do you think ANYTHING Artest says will inspire his teammates?

Let's get real.

Ron/Metta is known for his moronic idiocy.

Are you telling me you are giving his words some weight?

Please tell me you are kidding.

Lakers would still love to dump 'Metta', but know they'd have to take back worse garbage for that to work.

of course I am kidding. Who on earth would listen to Metta?

Lets see, the man tried to take time off midseason from promoting his rap album, applied for a job at Circuit City for an employee discount, showed up to practice in a bath robe, and I heard thru the grapevine that he got into a tif with a fan in Detroit.

Nobody cares what Metta says.

I am guessing you mean Pau.

The reason the Lakers are questioned at this point (and I am playing devils advocate) is they lost Phil, their core outside an oft injured Bynum is getting really old. Kobe is no longer a top 4-5 player. The Mavs absolutely destroyed them, and return everyone, and the Thunder just keep getting better. The east has 2 teams that will continue to improve.

I am not trying to get anyone going here, Laker fan wise, but their window is indeed closing. Is it closed? I don't personally think so. But Its closing...

its very possible. so much for the haters. people also said before last season that the mavs wont win it but guess what? they did. and the lakers are still a championship contender

of course the Lakers are contenders. But I will honestly never get why people use the term "haters" so much.

Definitely not guaranteed, and Artest is not the player to be saying this..

But the Lakers will still contend. I don't understand all the laughing and sarcasm, it isn't guaranteed but the Lakers will be up there.

way too early to say that stuff Meta.. maybe if you played at the level you played your whole career they would have a better chance not taking a backseat to Kobe. I hope the Lakers are terrible this year just to rub it into Meta World Peace silliness

I gaurantee a non triangle offense Ron Artest will be a much different player. The triangle basically makes the sf a spot up shooter, which he isn't. If they open the offense and let him go back to posting up and free lancing some I think his production goes up.........

Honestly, I've wondered this myself, and the selfish part of me wants him to go Ron-Ron on the league... however, I can't say that, cause the guy has made monumental steps forward as a person, and in all truth he's a great person that donates a lot of money to people in need, and organizations that help the less fortunate. So I can't hate on that... better person now then most of us.
