Simple question. Just want everyone to get an idea of how optimistic people are about this. It's a damn shame, END THE LOCKOUT!

yes and the people who say no dont know what they are talking about. FIsher the president of the players is really old and he isnt going to lose an entire season. The NBA with the highest ratings in a while arent going to risk losing a season. We will start on time.

I agree that the ratings are very high right now. I haven't really kept up with where things are at atm, but right before the lockout happened the consensus on sports radio was the 2 sides were really far apart and have much bigger problems than the nfl did. So, things didn't sound too optimistic. Hopefully, this will end. But, my guess is at the very least games will be missed.

After both sides meeting for 6 hours, I'm more optomistic than I was previously. I will say though, that you won't see real progress being made until they start losing preseason games. Still expect some more posturing going forward for the next month or so.

I voted yes, but I think it will be a 50 game shortened season.

^ I would be fine with that it would be a great year actually the players wont be nearly as fatigued in the playoffs

So if there is no season... Does it guarentee a season in 2012-2013?

I definitely see the season playing out but starting in December mid to late, than your normal end of october or early November start.

I voted yes, but I'm torn between whether there will be a full season or a shortened season like some have mentioned. It just doesn't seem like there is much urgency with the season being less than 2 months away. Right now I would guess there will be a shortened season, but that could change if they start to get serious about negotiations.

well, for some older players, the shortened season actually hurts them more, since they pack more games into less time. Not as much time to rest.

I believe the regular season will start on time. I'm very optimistic about the rhetoric both sides came out of Wednesday's meeting with. I think the owners, knowing full well that the players have other options overseas, will have to give a little ground, and I think the players are already willing to give up a little bit themselves, so its just a matter of time, and with more meetings scheduled over the next couple of weeks, I think all will be well for the 2012 season!

These are businessmen and there is just too much money at stake for them to not make the right business decision.

Pretty confident there will be a regular season this year. I'm pretty sure both sides realize whats at stake if they miss an entire season. Like SteBo said there will be in all likelihood more posturing from both ends for the next month or so, but I expect a deal to be reached at the latest the first week of the regular season.

There has to be one. There's just too much money too lose.

Man in those interviews with Stern he just seems like such a snide prick. I'm a celtics fan but I actually have a lot more respect for Derek Fisher for arguing numbers with him for 6 hours a day.
