Hey guys, Some of you may remember that for the last three years I have conducted a poll at the end of the season that had PSD users vote for the top 10 players at each position. Its is now that time to vote! I would like to start this up once more considering the NBA season is now over and we can get to this discussion since lots has changed since the start of last season. Please TRY AND VOTE FOR THE BEST PLAYER AND DON'T BE A HOMER. I will leave the poll open for one day and than we can carry on to the next best player at that position. I will add more players after each round. I have also included the results of those last 2 years so everyone can see how much things have changed...Enjoy.

REMEMBER this is based on who is the best player, not the player who has the potential to be the best.

1) Dwight Howard
2) Andrew Bynum
3) Tim Duncan
4) Andrew Bogut
5) Al Horford
6) Marc Gasol

There is alot of talent @ the Center position... Complimentary players. The League is just limited on dominant Centers. Notice all those "top 10" Centers, and even including the other 10 choices that won't make the list, besides Dwight, are 3rd, 4th, and 5th options on they're teams.

I agree. If these players could consistently live up to their talent and remain healthy (Yao gone forever and Oden well we'll see what will happen there) the C position would certainly be one of the better.

Think of this talented players such as Thabeet (say what you want his potential defensive upside rivals that of Dwight), Jason Thompson, Brendan Haywood, Greg Oden, Andris Biedrins and Mehmet Okur (though he or Jeff would have been on the PF had he been healthy) failed to make the list for various reasons. IMO had these players been healthy and lived up to their potential they'd all with the exclusion of Haywood since he'd be coming off the bench be in the running for the for a top 10 spot. Hell though Marcus Camby may be on his way out the door soon in terms of shot blocking and rebounding he's still among the elite at the position.

This generation of Cs has suffered greatly from the injuries to Yao, Oden and Bynum if you ask me. Had they all been healthy the competition for #1 would be much tougher.

Big Al, but I wanted to vote Hibbert. Next year I promise he'll be on this list.

The exact opposite was being said at the start of the list but to be honest I dont think the position is that bad. When a 20-10 threat like Al Jeff is the 10th best center it cant possibly be that bad, its not as top heavy as it used to be but we have alot of decent centers

I think the problem is that these Centers aren't 2 way players. Most of them are only good on one side of the court, and aren't good on the other. There's no guys that are dominant on both sides of the court except Howard.

Defensive guys that are offensively challenged:
Noah, Chandler, Bogut, Mcgee

Offensive guys that aren't so good on defense AND/OR rebounding:
Jefferson, Bargnani, Lopez, Nene

guys who are decent at both but don't dominate:
Gasol, Hibbert, and Horford

I'd say Bogut and Bynum are both solid two way players but other than that I agree..

i forgot to include Bynum, i'd put him in the decent at both, but Bogut was atrocious last year on offense.

I don't care what the stat sheet says, Big Al is not a C. He's a one-dimensional power forward. Gortat is my choice. He has limited career minutes but showed last year he is a viable reliable center.

True, but I think he was still hampered by his arm injury.. After a long summer of rest, i'm sure he'll come back to his more efficient offensive play. Guy has the offensive talent, just needs to remain healthy.

Brook Lopez went from #4 center to not even in the top 10!!!!

All because of 1.8 rebounds per game smh... people live in the moment. Its a "what have you done for me lately" type of thing on PSD as someone so eloquently put it before. Also they say he is bad defensively which is a misconception. He is not great at it like Chandler but he is no slouch like Bargiani or Amare

Goes to show you how much people know about basketball. If theres a season next year Deron Williams will turn him into a star like he did for Boozer and people will put him in the top 5 again. Plus he will have had an actual off season to get bigger and stronger after last summers bout with Mononucleosis. Hopefully he stops kissing girls and focuses on his rebounding... maybe the girls can offer him a kiss for every board he gets :laugh2:

It's about time we wrap this thread up and get on to the #1 Player in the NBA. Maybe we can go pass 10 this year with the lock out and all.
