Some of this has been discussed in my other thread, but I thought this was worthy of its' own thread, what is the single greatest move any NBA player has ever had in his arsenal? Here's my top 5

1. Hakeem's dream shake

2. Kareem's sky hook

3. MJ's turnaround jumper

4. Shaq's "get the **** out of my way" dunk. (Note, I didn't know what to call this, but you all know what I'm talking about, it's the one where he catches it, turns around and basically just intimidates his defender into standing aside as he throws down a monster dunk.

5. Allen Iverson's crossover

Thoughts?

Rick Barry's free throw style. :laugh2:

Also Wilt Chamberlain's fadeaways... a move Dirk Nowitzki uses these days.

Also Wilt's finger roll

I'd say the most iconic move out of those is Kareem's hook shot, however in today's game the crossover is universal no matter what age and a must-have move for guards and most small forwards. I would say the greatest move though has to be Shaq's. No matter what you did, if Shaq wanted to, he could and would muscle you up and get to his spot.

For me, the single greatest move of all time has to be Kareem Abdul-Jabbar's sky hook shot. That move is virtually impossible to defend once the player has executed the move. Right behind him coming in second, Michael Jordan's turnaround fadeaway shot. That is also impossible to defend or stop once mastered.

Kobes fade away in his prime is worthy of this list but I wouldn't pick it

Dirks spin and jumpshot is something to consider.

Dirk's spin and fadaway should be on that list but i think its KAJ and his sky hook

I'm going with skyhook b/c it was the most unblockable shot out of them all

MJ's fadeaway is probably the 2nd greatest shot

Shaq in prime was unstoppable and had even developed a drop step when he wasn't just going straight through you. Thus the zone defense that we all enjoy today......

Dirk's fadeaway has to be top 3. Unstoppable, no one can stop it.

Erving's ABA 'Attack and Dunk'.

Not sure it can really be called a move.

see 0:52No shot is unblockable, but the skyhook was one of the closest things to it. Jordan's fadeaway is right up there with it for the title of the most unstoppable and people have managed to block that as well, it just takes near perfect timing to accomplish it.

Only saw one player I saw block Earl Monroe's shot was Mike Gale, and he did it twice in one game.

Allen Iverson had a good crossover, but how on earth do you put that over Tim Hardaway's killer crossover. Damn.... it was named the "Killer" crossover haha

Shaq's "GTFO my way" mentality was pretty unstoppable, along with KAJ's hook.

I'd say:

1/2 - Shaq/KAJ
3 - Hakeem
4 - MJ

The rest

MJ's baseline move on Starks and Oakley followed by the dunk over Ewing. Doesn't really answer the OP's question but this move was one of the greatest things I've ever seen on a Basketball court.

I'm surprised the dream shake isn't getting more love. In terms of degree of difficulty and skill coming from someone Hakeem's size, I'm personally astounded by it.

For what it's worth, I've never personally seen Dirk's one footed fadeaway blocked. And the guy makes them at an unhuman efficiency. It's the best move of this generation. The skill involved in it is so much greater than Shaq's drop-set power move in the low post that I'm not sure the two are a fair comparison.

shaqs move made the nba change its rules lol so its gotta be that, kareems sky hook, and dirks 1 footed fadeaway all have to be equals as the best. jordans fadeaway is nice.. but a lot of people can do it.. infact hakeem was the one who used it in his arsenal before mj did. mj almost perfected it.. kobe does it almost on the level mj did it.. but not quite

The one that I use all the time is the kevin mchale up and under layup a few feet from the basket. Works every time honestly.

That's the first one that came to mind for me, too.
