Hakeem is the only great stealing big man I can think of ATM... KG's pretty good too, but then again he's a PF.

One of my favorite role players of his time, dont ask me why I just liked his post defense for some reason.

Hakeem kills this category.

Garnett in his earlier years is a good example for this generation.

charles oakley comes to mind for me. Dude was all hands 'old man' defense from the day he was drafted.

Hakeem is the correct answer but don't sleep on Karl Malone.

I still say to this day that Ervin Johnson was a monster reason for the Wolves only deep playoff run

KG was the first to come to mind for me, but Hakeem was the best.

I still remember an ESPN segment that done highly of his ability to defend Duncan 1 on 1 allowing KG to roam. I recall some random **** sometimes.

If we argue PFs as well, Elvin Hayes* and Karl Malone are legit contenders

* no steal stats for Hayes for his first 4-5 seasons but he was known for stealing (also averaged 1.9 steals per game once)

Probably Hakeem considering he was probably the most agile pure bigmen to ever play the game. Not really a bruiser.. quick hands quick feet.. not many big men before or after him had a game like his.

Ervin couldn't get a steal to save his life. What?

Hakeem had the best use of his hands from any big I've seen.
