View Full Version : If you could pick any player to win a series or playoff run for you who would it be?

For me? I'm going with Dwyane Wade, after Wade I'm going with Dirk. I don't trust Lebron enough and Kobe is no longer good enough in my opinion due to him being past his prime. This isn't a who is the best player in the league thread, just one guy you want winning you a playoff series or a playoff run (16 wins).

Dwight Howard, no question about it.

op has a clear agenda in all of his threads and posts we get it you don't like lebron, anyways for me it would depend on the supporting cast if i have a really good center and a decent pg i'll take Dirk.

Definitely Kobe. Still at the top of his game despite what some may say and he's almost a lock to win a series if there the higher seed.

Right this moment it has to be Dirk.

In the general scheme of things, I'm going with Wade. Personal bias included.

Up till the finals: Lebron
Finals: Scalabraine (Why isn't he on this list?!) Wade, Kobe

In due time Lebron could also make this list... but until proven otherwise...

Gotta go with the resumé here. Might be a bit biased as a Laker fan, but the only other option I'd consider is probably Wade.

This guy probably already created more threads than his post counts.

What agenda? I want to know how certain people define the better or the best player. It seems like a lot of people around here value regular season and just pure talent/impact not necessarily the results.

I still got Lebron.

Man was the sole reason the Cavs went to the playoffs all those years and was the main reason for the Heat's playoff run till the Finals.

I dont realy understand this question,

if this is who you would like to see win a run, Steve Nash by far, he deserves it more than any other player in the league IMO. he had a championship nearly stolen from him.

if this is, who you would put in the drivers seat of a team to win you a run, ill go with Dirk, becuase his shot if just so unstopable.

Depends on how we are judging. Are we judging them on how they generally perform in playoff series as the favorite or underdog? Are we taking them how good they were recently?

All of that comes into play. You just decide who you want to win these playoff series/runs for you.

You could add up everyone on this list and they still wouldn't have half as many rings as Kobe.

Ok I'd take Derrick Rose because he is on my team. I want him to win 16 games. If unbiased I'd say Dwight Howard.

True, but how many of them have played for a winning organization other than Rose on that list?

Because they have won already.

Um the question isn't about that.

The question is who would you trust to win a playoff series for you or a playoff run for you, so experience would OBVIOUSLY be beneficial.

It's simply who do you trust the most in the NBA right now to win you playoff games/series/run?

For a franchise that never won before that player arrived then Dirk because the Mavs never won anything prior to Dirk being there. Also Wade because the Heat never won anything prior to Wade being there. Anyone can win going to a franchise known for winning prior to them there.

This is almost coded for who the best player in the league is to me. It is very clear people have different values on what the best player in the league means.

dirk had 2 game winners of the 2011 nba finals lol. why is he not the highest voted? he went on two seperate individual scoring sprees in the finals minutes of 2 games also.

im either going dirk, wade or kobe. there should be no other options on this poll

not true.. the celtics won 1 title in the last like 26 years. u need the players to win. it doesnt matter where.

big cities is what helps.

los angeles
chicago
miami

big players want to go to big cities. it has nothing to do with winning culture.

the lakers wouldnt have won in 2000-02 if shaq didnt want to come to LA for career purposes.

winning culture is somewhat important and id say is only apart of boston and la. If you feel winning culture matters so much then that culture hasnt really worked out for the celtics. big city means wayyyy more.

miami
chicago
la
new york
etc

you will notice that every decade these cities have good teams.

Bulls only were good one decade and it was the 90's. Miami was good in the 90's as well and now the 2000's The Knicks were good in the 70's and 90's.

Big Cities matter little if the team did not have a pedigree of winning. Dallas and Houston are big cities as well and only had one era where they won. Obviously you need a superstar talent in any city, however there are some organizations that just win. Lakers for instance have been to half the NBA finals in NBA History and the Celtics at least 1/3 of them.

Nope, he's not. He's most likely a fan of another team (I can guess which team but won't say it here). His avatar and name don't necessarily make him a Heat fan. You can look at the threads he created and all his posts, it's clear than daylight.
