Wade probably. Ginobili used to be a great slasher but he's slowed down a bit and has improved his jumper.

Wade definitely. He gets to the hoop better than anyone in recent memory.

When I think of the best slasher in the game today first person comes to mind is Dwyane Wade.

Wade for sure.

Call me a Homer but I think Derozan is actually one of the better slashers in the league today. his FG%(.467) was pretty good despite being a below average shooter (only shooting a dismal 9% from 3).

Wade.

Derrick Rose is getting up there with Wade.

Lebron is a slaher but the way he slashes isn't as good as Wade or Rose. Those guys get to the rim by like twisting their bodies in the weirdest of ways.

Wade. Great ball handler and could make some great passes to Lebron or Bosh

Its Wade for sure. LBJ doesnt "slash" so much, he really barrels his way down the lane with his strength a lot of the time.

I consider slashers to be people that use quickness, direction and pace changes to get to the lane. That's why players that use Strength and Size to get by are not being considered
1.Wade
2. Rose
3. Chris Paul
4. Westbrook
5. Rondo
6. Barea

Wade, the guy is a horrible shooter but still gets in the paint. Eric Gordan is second.

Your a homer, those #s actually hurt your case, I would expect someone who scores only in the paint to shoot a much higher %.

Nah people just refuse to realize how much Brons jumper has improved. He actually scores alot from the perimeter.

Deng is not a bad slasher at all, he's like andre iguodala.

Deng is a straight line driver, hes at his best when the lane has already been created, Iggy handles the ball alot more. Not sure which one makes who better but I don't think their slashing styles are all that similar.

Im going to come off picky but I think your confusing slashers with penetraters.

Dwyane Wade. And it's not even close.
A slasher is someone who gets into the lane and takes high percentage shots. They can finish at the ring (often while taking contact), they are fast, have good body control and are not necessarily great shooters. Wade covers all of these bases. He is one of the best finishers in the league around the rim. He is lightning quick (Shaquille O'Neal nicknamed him Flash). He has amazing body control and is not known for his shooting ability. Wade can also change direction incredibly quickly and has a deadly euro-step move.

TheRunKiller

Rose probably the best at getting to the rim finishing

In order of shot attempts at the rim, highest to lowest. All players are at a FG%(.60) or greater when finishing at the rim.

1. Wade
2. Westbrooke
3. Rose
4. Tyreke Evans
5. LBJ
6. Tony Parker
7. Wall
8. Monta Ellis
9. Gordon
10. Barbosa

Honorable mentions: Stuckey, Devin Harris.

Highest being Monta at 69%, lowest being Evans at 59.8%.

Pretty much what I wanted to say after I read the thread title. Wade is the best and it's not really close.
Westbrook is the closest thing to Wade IMO.

I don't know what this comment is supposed to mean. That is exactly why he is the best slasher in the NBA. His speed and power are unmatched and going to the hole is what he does best. He is one of the best slashers I have ever seen if not the best.

That's agood list, I can't believe I completely forgot about tyreke, hes #2 when healthy, the guy is am even worse shooter than wade but he turns games into layup drills sometimes.

As soon as I saw this, the first name that came to my head was Dwayne Wade. Without a doubt the best slasher in the league (Derrick Rose is #2), he can twist his body to the hoop or just power his way there, he's quick and can also make the pass if the scoring opportunity isn't there. As much as I hate the Miami Heat, I have respect and admiration for Dwayne Wade, who in my opinion is the best player in the NBA right now.

lebron doesn't have the quick first step guys like wade and rose have. as a heat fan i even remember lebron saying it himself this season that his second step is where he really gets going. he needs 2 steps to work up a head of steam before he can drive to the rim(of course it depends who's guarding him though since most small farward he can beat easily). wade and rose/westbrook guys like that can slash from anywhere and work around defenses to get inside better than lebron does despite who's checking them.

just look at the finals, sure lebron wasn't being aggressive enough, but he also couldn't get past marion or kidd at times because he doesn't have the explosive first step some guards have so he was settling on the perimeter for his shots. he also was forced to pass it away alot of the time because he couldn't beat the defense that was rotating towards him once he got the ball. i don't think lebron can split multiple defenders in the halfcourt the way wade and rose can on the perimeter from a standstill. also his dribble is too high because of his height making it tougher for him in tight to protect the ball or change direction with a quick dribble.

slash and bulldozer are 2 different styles. lebron is a great player and does both extremely well but hes more power than finesse no question about it on his drives when compared to the elite finesse rim attackers. once he has momentum hes the best but he needs the momentum first.

to answer the actual thread question its wade hands down. noone has a skill set like him to get to the rim and finish. that's what makes him such a great player although hes pretty great all around(except shooting). hes also pretty strong for a slasher and can bully his way in or finish with contact at times as well. heres a few clips i thought i'd add.

so it definitely goes to Wade

A lot of guys can get to the rim but Wade is so acrobatic and capable of changing directions and get through 3/4 defenders with art it easily makes him the most exciting player to watch for me. The guy is a joy to watch when healthy.

I remember a time when Jamal Crawford was one of the better ones. Past his prime now but he used to have crazy handles and break apart entire defenses with a couple deceptive dribbles.
...but yeah, everybody has Wade and Rose for a reason. Lebron could get back up there if he really wanted to.
