Man...I know there's not much to discuss right now, but this thread again? Why do I constantly have to be reminded that the best chance my team has ever had at winning a title in the modern era was robbed from us? And with the current situation, we may never have that chance again...in Sacramento anyway. I can handle losing; just not like that.

This thread was over with the first post. I don't even know how this is debatable.

the sad thing is his prime was too short.

Too much of a headcase when young, to riddled by injury on his last days.

He was a favourite of mine because he was an almost complete player, who could pass, shoot, drive the ball etc, his worse feature was.....defense ( mmm magic, Pau, Woolridge........it looks like a trend in my tastes.....)

Webber still is a top 15 pf ever for sure and probably you could argue him as a top ten.

Looks like everytime the Heat are about to win a gam, then the calls start coming in, compare ft's in the 4th quarter, Mavs got four times more ft's than Miami in the 4th quarter and that's a jump shooting team. It's a shame that most of you cant see past your hatred for Miami, the finals was rigged. The Mavs are not better than either the Celtics or Bulls but somehow beat Miami. GIVE ME A BREAK.

Those games weren't officiated well, but the Kings still shot more FTAs throughout the series than the Lakers.

The Kings were 5th in the NBA in total FTAs/FTAPG for the 2002 season (2,154). The Lakers were 6th with 2,138 total FTAs.

The ratio between the teams regular season and WCFs FTAs relative to the other were nearly identical; edge Kings.

It's surprising that the team with two of the top five FTA shooters for the 2002 season (Shaq/Kobe) still weren't able to get their team to the line more than the Kings throughout despite "superstar" treatment.

The Kings had home-court for that series too. Another example of the team w/ home-court winning the FTA battle.

http://www.basketball-reference.com/leagues/NBA_2002.html

I think the Lakers won that series through luck; the missed rebound after Kobes layup cost the Kings the series. Horry. The Kings were a championship quality team, and the best team the three-peat Lakers had to face, along with Portland in 2000. Both seven game series.

Cal827
08-06-2011, 05:15 PM
Here are some overall game FT stats:

Game 1: Mavs 32, Heat 26. An average game, 6 FT discrepancy.
Game 2: Mavs 21, Heat 24. Another fair FT game.
Game 3: Mavs 27, Heat 15. Mavs have the advantage here and lost the game.
Game 4: Mavs 30, Heat 24. Fair FT game.
Game 5: Mavs 27, Heat 26. Pretty much even.
Game 6: Mavs 18, Heat 33. Elimination game, Heat get far more FT, and Mavs win.

Total: Mavs 155, Heat 148

LeBron was a chucker for every game except the 1st, he never went to the hole. Wade is the only other slasher. Bosh NEVER goes to the basket, Anthony has ZERO offensive game, Haslem was primarily a defender, Chalmers and Miller are 3 point shooters.

Dirk was taking it to the hole at ease and the whistle was swallowed many times, Chandler got plenty of OFF REB and put it back up, Marion got 99% of his points in the paint, Terry even took it to the hole a few times.

dnewguy is an idiot.

Thanks for the FT results... This really was the only game that I was watching and noticed a big discrepancy in the free throws, but in the end it didn't hurt the Heat since they won... like game 6 when the Mavs won.

Anyways to the question I've seen a few bad officiated playoff games.... LA vs Sacremento has been mentioned about 400 times... I also remember a game before they added instant replay (actually I think this game was the reason they added it), when I think it was Reggie Miller shot a game tying three after the buzzer, but the refs counted it anyways... I just remember being somewhat surprised they awarded it to him.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bfk37FakKd4&feature=related

About at the 3:00 minute mark, it shows the game tying shot.

These are the type of comments that just set me off, in my mind if not public. If a team is that good, it should be able to overcome losing the FT disparity. No excuses. Miami earned that Finals trip because they played great defense and made the big plays when it mattered. I think you know that though. :)

The funny thing about those series' is that the spurs were labeled "rating killers" and still got a ridiculous amount of generous/nonsense calls. I'll have to disagree with you about 04-05, but 06-07 suns-spurs was definitely questionable. For some odd reason that seems to be left out alot, but that doesn't excuse how blatant the officiating was. The series should've ended in 6 with the Kings taking it, but the refs stole it from them. There are no two ways about it.

pretty much all of the 2008 finals.. boston would have won either way.. but wow the refs didnt give la a chance.

anyway i came here to say sac town fans should go and buy nba 2k12.. because if i were them id get the 02 kings and whoop the lakers all day for the 1st week of its release lol

Bear in mind a lot of those free throws went to Shaq for an automatic miss and Sacramento has nothing to cry about. They blew a game 7 on their floor, period.

game 1 celtics @ heat 2011 was pretty bad, refs didnt give us a chance to come back into the game.

i wish people could aknowledge that a little more.. but i dont complain because we have gotten slack from the nba A LOT. game 6 against sac town was officiated bad.. not as bad as sac town fans make it out to be. Anyway, how do you lose a game 7 at home and miss that many freehrows in the 4th? sac didnt deserve it just because of the choke job they displayed. they also choked pretty bad againt the wolves in 04 gm 7

Absolutely 100% this. Watch the Greatest Tragedy in Sports on youtube. It wasn't simply give the Lakers calls they also allowed them to get away with a bunch of crap.

did the refs rig all the freethrows sac town missed in game 7 too?
