http://i954.photobucket.com/albums/ae23/snarlyb/tor-mills.jpg VS http://i954.photobucket.com/albums/ae23/snarlyb/bal-hunter.jpg
Brad Mills..................Tommy Hunter
0-1, 2.57 ERA..............0-0, 9.00 ERA

Mills makes his second start of the season after throwing a quality start against the Rangers in his debut. Mills took the loss but received no run support as he allowed just two earned runs on six hits over seven innings while striking out five.

Hunter was a 13-game winner for the Rangers last year, but was hurt this spring and was never able to crack Texas' rotation. He will get that chance with the Orioles, who traded for him Saturday and used him for a one-inning relief stint on Tuesday.

Saturday, August 6, 7:05 PM ET

http://i954.photobucket.com/albums/ae23/snarlyb/jays-morrow.jpg VS http://i954.photobucket.com/albums/ae23/snarlyb/bal-tillman.jpg
Brandon Morrow.................Chris Tillman
8-5, 4.58 ERA..................2-4, 5.16 ERA

Morrow set a season high with 11 strikeouts Sunday against the Rangers. He allowed just two runs on six hits in seven innings of work and has now allowed three earned runs or fewer in all but two of his past 10 starts.

Tillman last pitched Saturday afternoon's game in a doubleheader at Yankee Stadium, breezing through two innings before running into trouble in the third. The 23-year-old was charged with seven earned runs over 4 1/3 innings.

Sunday, August 7, 1:35 PM ET

http://i954.photobucket.com/albums/ae23/snarlyb/romero-1.jpg VS http://i954.photobucket.com/albums/ae23/snarlyb/bal-simon.jpg
Ricky Romero................Alfredo Simon
9-9, 2.98 ERA................3-4, 3.83 ERA

Romero allowed just one run in eight strong innings during his last outing against Tampa Bay. He has won two consecutive starts and has surrendered one run over those 16 1/3 innings. He has 16 quality starts in 22 outings this year.

Simon has emerged as a viable starter, holding the Royals to one run over seven innings in his fifth outing since being moved into the rotation. The 30-year-old righty allowed four hits and a walk and picked up three strikeouts in Tuesday's win.

Jose Bautista has become one of the most feared hitters in baseball, but he hasn't lived up to that billing against the lowly Baltimore Orioles this year.

Bautista appears to have his home run swing back in order as the Toronto Blue Jays visit the last-place Orioles in the opener of a three-game series Friday night.

He's compiled 87 homers and 197 RBIs since the start of last season, leading the majors in both categories while the next-closest home run total is 20 away by St. Louis' Albert Pujols. Bautista's 33 homers are tops in baseball this year, and he's fifth in the AL with a .321 average.

His only two hits in the past three games have been solo shots, a stretch which comes after he went a season-high 14 games without a home run.

He's gone 11 in a row without homering against Baltimore (43-65) while batting .143 (5 for 35). Even though the Orioles rank last in the majors with a 4.86 ERA and 137 homers allowed, they are the only team to face Bautista in more than four games this year and keep him in the yard.

Bautista is a career .191 hitter at Camden Yards with six homers in 28 games.

The start of this series may not lend well to Bautista, who is 0 for 8 versus Tommy Hunter - Friday's scheduled starter.

Despite Bautista's struggles, the Blue Jays (56-55) have won 21 of the last 27 meetings with the Orioles, taking two of three at home from July 26-28.

Blue Jays top prospect and third baseman Brett Lawrie is expected to make his major league debut. Lawrie hit .353 with 18 homers and 61 RBIs in 69 games at Triple-A Las Vegas, and is fully healthy after fracturing his hand in late May.

"This is a guy that we've had a lot of expectations on," manager John Farrell told the team's official website. "That's not to create more of a hysteria situation, than the attention that's going to follow him, but he has done everything we've asked at Triple-A."

Brad Mills, who was a hard-luck loser in his season debut in Saturday's 3-0 defeat to Texas, starts for Toronto. The left-hander allowed two runs in seven innings.

He was impressive in his only meeting with the Orioles on July 28, 2010, yielding two hits in seven innings of a 5-0 victory. That stands as his only win in 10 games - six starts - over three seasons.

The Orioles are opening a 10-game homestand after losing five of six following Thursday's 9-4 defeat at Kansas City.

They may be without J.J. Hardy, who left Thursday's loss with a sore ankle. He hit his 19th homer of the season before getting hurt and is considered day-to-day.

"The good news, it doesn't seem to be like an ankle turn, (because) it's not swelling," manager Buck Showalter told the team's official website. "We will see where we are (Friday). (Cesar Izturis) might be coming back at just the right time."

Izturis is expected to return from nerve irritation in his right elbow, which needed surgery and landed him on the disabled list in May. He may fill in for Hardy at short, but he's just 5 for 26 with Baltimore this year.

Izturis went 3 for 10 with three RBIs in a three-game rehab stint in the minors.

"I'm excited," Showalter said. "We haven't had him here in a while. He can do a lot things for us. We'll be able to use him in a lot of ways."

Hunter (1-1, 3.31 ERA) is getting his first start since being acquired in a three-player deal with Texas on Saturday. He allowed one run in one inning of relief in his team debut during Tuesday's 8-2 win over the Royals.

The right-hander is 1-1 with an 8.05 ERA in three starts versus Toronto.

I don't care if this is his first MLB at bat, Lawrie and Hill should be flipped.

Girlfriend works evenings tonight...meaning I get to sit back and watch Lawrie's debut in peace and quiet :) can't wait.

I'm not a huge fan of the lineup, but I can see why Farrell would put Thames back at 2, try and light a fire under him. I also would have put Lawrie 7th, Hill to the bottom, but I guess they want as little pressure as possible.

wagnall

This is a good line up. Lawrie gets his feet wet, Jp can hit bombs from #8 . Also like Thames at#2 and Rasmus at #6. His power is starting to come around and could be strong RBI guy.

After what I personnally witnessed in Tampa in game 2 and esp. 3, trying to wipe that out of my mind, and look forward to this line up.[with exception of Hill]. And really, what happenned in Tampa, is anyone really that surprised.

Best get used to it won't be last, but a sweep in this series could be just what we need and with Rasmus getting his bat going, Lawrie up to strut his stuff, exciting things ahead for this team and fans.

I think where Lawrie hits right now is not important. Lets see how he handles 3rd, and see how he hits MLB pitching, even it is Balt. Give him some games to get the feel. If in a week or so his bat is as advertised then they will bat him in the spot he would be most effective.

I believe IMO, AA has a part in where Lawrie bats as this was his 1st big move as GM and he wants it just right.

It's not if that's the only spot he can succeed at.

Nonetheless, I agree with the decision as I assume they're just trying to get him going again.

that is the point... Rasmus got a few hits to get him going so they moved him... they will prob do the same with Thames and then move him around..... but it doesnt matter... if he suceeds there you keep him there.... you can call them cheap hits if you want but they are still hits.... and a tunner on base is still always a positive..... its a confidence builder i imagine

About Mills. You have to atleast give him credit for battling out there bro. Hes only given up 2 runs, i dont care if you throw 70 miles per hour..if you give me 6 innings, 2 ER, and keep me in the game, your a success. Give him a chance. Lets see how far he goes in this game too.

am I the only one that actually believes that Litsch could be an option to close a game if the opportunity arises?

Francisco's a better choice in my opinion.

it is very sad that we literaally have nobody else but if things keep going like this, were gonna have to keep trying different people in the closer role, hoping that one of them catches fire and can become a somewhat consistant closer until the season is over... and im sure its not rauch or frank.

well thats what i feel they should try with Rauch.... if he gets through the season with maybe just 1 more blow save.... and can finish like 17/23.... its not good but shows he COULD be consistant.... and i think when the seasons over no point in testing someone else out.....
