View Full Version : Chances we will have an NBA Season next year?

What do you guys think? Currently, it seems like the sides are really far apart. However, this seemed to be the case with the NFL Lockout as well until suddenly things started moving. This is my hope for the NBA lockout, however, I still don't have a good feeling about it. As we have seen, players are moving fast to already consider options abroad elsewhere. Granted, this could be a leverage tactic as well.

Seriously, Owners/Players have to realize how successful last season was. Great ratings, improved attendance, and many more positive aspects could go to waste. Nothing would hinder this growth more than having a lockout.

Anyway, back to the question, what % chance would you give that we will see some NBA basketball come fall?

I wish I could say 100%, but to be realistic I say 20% for a full season, 55% for a 50 games season

I'd put it at about 70% for a full season and 85% for at least partial season. It is anyone's best guess at this point though.. what is happening in the negotiations?

At best a partial season, but who cares. Football is back.

Most people with some inside knowledge on both sides say there will be a season, but it might be partial. I doubt we lose the whole year. January seems to be the general consensus.

I'd say it's about:

Partial season: 60%
Full season 35%
Canceled season 5%

100 percent there will be a season, shortened or not.

A lot of you guys are very optimistic

it never left. dont understand the paranoia about their lockout. ya better hope santa delivers the nba for a present. around january is when the nba either loses the season or has a shorten season when we see who got fat.

65%, but I think it'll be a shortened season.

100% full season

I honestly could care less about football, basketball is definitely the most exciting sport to watch. I might sound biased, but if you think about it basketball is the only sport with nonstop action. Baseball is just boring all together, in football you can barely tell what is going on half the time and they take breaks between every play. The NBA had its most successful season in awhile last year and they could lose what they gained if they don't end this lockout..

I've already planned to watch the NHL more closely this year because I'm expecting to have no NBA season. Hopefully I'm wrong, but I'm going to assume there won't be a season.

About 80% there won't be a full season. As far as as a season at all I say its still 50/50. The owners were very content to wait as long as it takes until the players came back begging for money but these Euro deals throws a monkey wrench in their program, especially since the lower tier players are going. Their leverage was basically to wait until the bottom guys caused an uproar but if the low man is still getting contracts overseas and perhaps a better contract than he would've got in the NBA that screws up things for management.....
