Good find.

Nothing really terribly surprising to me.

Proud the Magic owned 3 of the 10 worst last year at various times!

Yeah, I generally like Otis for being aggressive with his moves, but I am starting to really not like his overall plan.

Hey stats guys... can you find a chart that compairs $ made to win shares in the playoffs?

You could take it even further and find $ compared to fourth quarter production in the playoffs.

These advanced stats are getting out of control.

Very good stats, show how valuable someone is compared to how much they make. I'd love to see which team gets the most value for the money they spend, I'd imagine it to be OKC.

Yeah. The league is in trouble, because now most teams have dedicated positions/departments dedicated to advanced statistics. I know the Magic, last I heard, pay 6-7 guys to keep track of crazy stats that none of us could find on the internet. The league is changing, people get what wins, and advanced stats accurately display the formula to success.

Like how can you possibly knock this? It just shows how much bang for your buck you're getting. It's not even "advanced". It's intuitive.

Your a lakers fan/rockets fan IIRC (sorry if I'm wrong)

Pat Riley used one of the first sets of advanced stats to fight the disease of more with showtime.
The GM of the Rocket HOSTS (not participates, HOSTS) the biggest stat geek convention every year for the NBA.

Their not going away.

You really don't think Gasol, Pierce, and Duncan don't deserve to be top 30 paid players.

I also think K-Mart definitely deserves it: he's one of the 10 best offensive players easily. Z-Bo earned his contract last year. As did Brand (hence why they're top 10 in this list).

Who do you root for? Odds are your team pays a hefty amount for advanced statisticians. Odds are they value things like WS more than points per game (I'm assuming is the most important stat in your eyes).

wtf? it goes deeper into the stats that players put up...u say that as if these stats are just make-believe. Just because u don't understand it doesn't mean it's trash. I'm not one for saying advanced stats are the only way to compare players, but to say that they're trash or pointless is absolutely ********.

Because all of their good players are on rookie contracts.

As far as veterans not on rookie contracts, San Antonio always does a good job being a top team and never paying luxury tax. Always seem to get thier players to sign at their true value or below instead of overpaying to keep them.

Win shares are one of the worst advanced stats. I recall Michael Beasley being top 15 or 20 in defensive win shares a couple seasons with the Heat. Goes to show it's a trash stat in some regards. Not very accurate at all.

Defensive win shares is a team oriented stat. look at Offensive Win shares. Only time I consider defensive win shares is with great defensive anchors like Duncan, Hakeem, Howard, etc...

Well played, sir.

I forget who it was who corrected me, probably Chronz, but I used to hate Kevin so much; constantly calling him "inefficient". Now I think he's the epitome of efficient. One of the absolute best pure scorers in the NBA. He should be top 30 paid...even without playing any defense. I hope he gets on a team with another good offensive player ASAP.

Either way, win shares is based on expected wins. There should be no such stat based on expected wins if you "expect" to be accurate at all.

Haha. No, I was just enlightened. I'm not going to be stuck in my ways. I was wrong.

I used to think he was terribly inefficient, but once you really boil everything down, he's not. His FG% sucks at times, but his ability to get to the FT line (and make them at a 90% clip) and his ability to drain the three, well...that makes him elite offensively.
