I think I went with the Logo in the last one so I'll do it again here.

Imma go with George Mikan here.

It gets really tough here, IMO. You could probably make an argument for at least five players here.

Karl or Jerry here

Jerry West was my vote at 12 and he's my guy at 13, too. I'd probably be okay with Erving, Barkley or Havlicek here, but if Karl Malone goes this here, I might vomit.

Who'd you originally have before West?

I had voted for Robinson, who while I know he sort of shrunk in the playoffs, he was an absolute beast in the regular season. And a great defensive player, which I'm sure he maintained in the postseason.

Understandable. I feel the same way about KG; that logic can be applied to both, I think.

West probably has the strongest argument here.

I know we're only 30 votes in but what happened to all the votes for Barkley?

I would have been satisfied seeing West going anywhere from 11-13, so I'll deal.

It can. But I have Robinson ahead of KG because I think his prime was better than KG's prime. In addition, his playoffs were still better too. They witnessed about the same drop but since Robinson's the better player, his postseason numbers were still better.

I know we're only 30 votes in but what happened to all the votes for Barkley?

Maybe my lack of posts recently talking about how underrated Barkley is have led to a lack of votes for him :laugh2:

lol jk but he does seem to be mentioned less in the last couple of threads

I don't see the correlation of picking (3x MVP & Finals MVP) Moses Malone over Karl having to do with the posters being younger?...

Hard to choose as there are a few guys like Jerry West, Karl Malone and Dr. J all worthy of this pick, however, I am going to go with Jerry West at no. 13.

Where do you guys rank Stockton, that all-time assist and steals leader guy...two records that may never be broken. He was better than Malone IMO and was just as healthy. Both barely missed any games during their careers.

not a bad pick.. but why are you surprised? he had another top 40 player all time for atleast 15 season and NEVER won a ring. how do you NOT win even once with another top 40 all time player? karl was great.. but i dont see logic giving the guy 13th best all time when he had like the 38th best too whom he had GREAT chemistry with and good role players for 15 seasons AND good coaching. If you wanna blame the 80s lakers or bulls then what about 89 and 90 season. or 94 and 95.. or 98 at least? what about 99???
i love malone.. but imo.. i think KG was better.
either way. its obvious karl malone will still end up getting picked at 14th.

I think West is the best of the lot, then things get very interesting with Dr J, Mailman, Admiral, Stockton, Barkley, Havlicek and even Mikan & Barry...

I'm going the logo here based on a correlation of many different factors. One however I'm still wondering about.

A couple threads ago bagwell368 one of the older posters around here said that West is overrated defensively and he's really not that good of a defensive player, bagwell said he has the film and has also seen West live in person and West was not as good defensively as his accolades and many articles made him out to be.

I would like to know if any of the older posters who saw West play also hold this POV?

I really can't understand this post? Wouldn't Karl go ahead of Moses if all these young posters didn't know anything about basketball? Also why did the older posters (eg Chronz and NYalltheway) vote for Moses as well?

Moses had a better career and his resume was unmatched by anyone left on the board.

Worth mentioning that his own teammate - Elgin Baylor - was generally considered the best player on the team (and in the playoffs) until that injury in the '65 playoffs.

How about as a % of games played in the playoffs (i.e. MJ has 38 40+ point games in 100 games so 40%)? Who leads in both categories then? (You can maybe set a minimum games played criteria if you want)

I suspect MJ would be #1. After that, it would be interesting. Seems like West could be #2
