View Full Version : #4 SF In The NBA? (Volume IV)

Hey guys, Some of you may remember that for the last three years I have conducted a poll at the end of the season that had PSD users vote for the top 10 players at each position. Its is now that time to vote! I would like to start this up once more considering the NBA season is now over and we can get to this discussion since lots has changed since the start of last season. Please TRY AND VOTE FOR THE BEST PLAYER AND DON'T BE A HOMER. I will leave the poll open for one day and than we can carry on to the next best player at that position. I will add more players after each round. I have also included the results of those last 2 years so everyone can see how much things have changed...Enjoy.

REMEMBER this is based on who is the best player, not the player who has the potential to be the best.

Added a lot more names to the poll, who gets number 4?

nycericanguy
07-13-2011, 09:38 AM
Pierce, but if Wilson Chandler makes this list then Gallo should be an option too, afterall Gallo started over Chandler at SF.

ANd wow the SF position in the NBA is really weak!

OP, did you not put Gallinari on this list just to anger me? Look at Gallinari's production and then look at Wilson Chandler's and tell me which one is more deserving. It isn't even close.

In the PF thread where he belongs and has been for the past 4 seasons.

He guards and is guarded by PFs every single game, it will be unfair to put him in thread comparing him to guys who are guarded and guard SFs every game.

Iggy can do a bit of everything as well. He isn't quite the scorer Deng is, but his defense and his passing especially are better. He was the best perimeter defender in the NBA last year IMO.

It's close. I think I'd give the slight advantage to Iggy.

It's EASILY Pierce here.

I Know Paul should win this and he will but I think people are underrating Granger too much. His per game stat is better then everyone while playing less minutes then others.
I also would like to point out being a bulls fan. Deng owns everyone (excpet Paul) in advance stats such as win shares, and offensive and defensive rating while playing one of the most minutes in the NBA. So I think Deng should be a strong candidate for number 5

hah, honestly I wouldn't be mad if iggy did win number 5.
Because deng and iggy have much different roles on a team.
Deng is a 3rd option who is asked to play defense and score efficiently ( I also think deng is a better rebounder but since we have so many in our team, that went down this year other wise it would be around 7 per game).
iggy is a playmaker for the team who also plays excellent defense.
And is a million times better passer then deng.

Pierce is definitely a much better defensive player than Melo, mostly because he puts in more effort. He's lost a step though on offense and not quite the 1-on-1 scorer he used to be. He can still score, but not close to when he was in his prime.

AntiG
07-13-2011, 01:53 PM
Only Pierce and Iguodala even deserve to be in this conversation. Truth edges him out. He's really neck and neck with Melo as well, since Melo doesn't bother to play defense and Pierce is as good as it gets defensively.

It's more then that, it his inefficiency, he's a tweener, he can't defend sf's cuz they're too fast can't guard pf's cuz they're too big, he's a chucker
And a knucklehead

Trust me all that would be straightened out if he does get his head right. Chucking, lack of commitment on D (I think he's quite capable of guarding the 3), his knucleheadness. And who said being a tweener is a bad thing? That could actually work in his team's favour if he could start playing some D.

As far as his inefficient that has a lot to do with his shot selection which again if he applies himself on the floor better he should get a better grip of.

All and all there are TONNES of "what ifs" with Michael Beasley but he is extremely talented.
