Raps got him at 5 and yeah I agree in one year (possibly with Harrison Barnes as well), the Raps may be decent for the first time in years.

PG - Calderon
SG - DeRozan
SF - Barnes
PF - Bargnani
C - Valaciunas
6th - Ed Davis

Not bad at all...

true i like calderon a lot and his defense got much better this year atleast he gives effort he just doesn't have the lateral quickness, we can't use him as a scapegoat especially when everyone on the team is bad defensively and the coach doesn't push defense.

Pretty sure Kanter abused JV in the under 18 tournament a few years ago. Would have been interesting had Kanter played in this tourney though. I don't think the Jazz will have any regrets.

Kanter is playing for Turkey in the actual european championships in August, hopefully JV plays for Lithuania and they match up again.

I believe Kanter has taken part in only one of these tourneys and it was in 2009. However, JV has come along since then and so has Kanter. When they face each other in August it'll be something else.

Tim Hardaway JR the star with 21 pts :p

edit:

It's every 2 years while it used to be every 4 before 2007.. In 2009 USA beat Greece ( :( ) 88-80 in the final so you've actually won recently. USA also holds the record for most wins, which is 4, then 2nd has 1, multiple teams there with Lithuania, Greece, Australia, Spain, Serbia, Yugoslavia(before separation)

Looking at the roster is actually pretty terrible considering the amount of other talented players we got in the NCAA.

I think Jeremy Lamb and Tim Hardaway Jr are the best players on the team lol. Patric Young and Tony Mitchell are also pretty good too. But everyone else is pretty mediocre at best.

We'd rape the competition if we had our best in the tournament, it makes me wonder why we dont...

"The Lithuanian under-19 national team has been turning heads all week in the FIBA U-19 World Championships in Latvia. Led by Toronto Raptors draft pick Jonas Valanciunas, they made quick work of the Russian team that shocked the US a few days before.

At the end of the first half, Lithuania was up 53-26, getting 15 points and 9 rebounds from their star center.

When asked about how they would fare in the NCAA, Jonathan Givony of Draft Express, one of the leading draft-evaluation sites on the internet, said they would be the best team in the country.

Maybe he is right maybe he is wrong... but the fact that someone who has probably watched them both more closely than you or I thinks they would be the best team in a college tournament when college has kids up to 23 years old really says something.

For anyone that is writing off this tournament as irrelevant because they are unfamiliar with it, turn down the ignorance please. Jonas is also probably the one NBA level talent on team Lithuania so him carrying them this far does say a lot. Does it mean he will be an NBA all star within a year or two, obviously not, but anyone that watched the tournament, watching full games is going to recognize the potential for him to be similar to an Andrew Bogut pre injury.

Young won't come out, needs to get bigger. If he were to come out I'd have him at 20-25 kinda level, with some upside. That list is a joke though, Patrick Young ahead of Rivers, Henson, Zeller (best C in the draft, book it), Jones? No way.

think of it like this... Jonas is the one NBA level talent on that team. NCAA teams (top teams) can have 2-4 future NBA players, throw in the fact that the entire Lithuanian team would be freshmen and it looks pretty impressive for someone to consider them winning. Which is all hearsay anyway though.

The main reason would be looking at the C's in the NCAA this year and there is pretty much no one that could match up with Jonas IMO and obviously in the aforementioned writer's.

Since Kanter and Jonas have played I believe Jonas has definitely progressed a lot more but there is a reason that Kanter went before Jonas and Jonas will need to keep improving. I think it will be an interesting match up two three years down the road.

The main thing I'm trying to say from all of that though is that I watched Jonas play and I have watched a **** tonne of college ball over the years and I am impressed with Jonas and his upside. That being said I also was impressed with Wayne Turner when I was a kid and thought he was going to be a great NBA point guard.

There were also guys like Lamb and Hardaway on the USA roster...

At the same time how many players from Lithuania roster might get into the NBA (besides Jonas)... I guess no one.

By the way, the win in overtime by 2 points while Lithuania played without their main PG is not that impressive, especially considering they ended up with 5th place.
