I dont get why everyone thinks that the Mavs will be first.. Not to hate or anything but you guys do realize that you were a team of a bunch of people who wanted a ring. Now that they have it.. what motivation do they have? Just look at the Lakers (Ron Artest). I think teams that have something to prove (Lakers and Thunder) Are gonna fight for the 1st seed.

So it should look like this out west

1.Lakers/Thunder
2. Lakers/Thunder
3.Mavs
4. Spurs
5. Grizzlies
6.Portland
7.Nuggets
8.Clippers

East

Miami ( hell, ill give it to them, they will be the best team, but may choke again in the playoffs )
Magic ( I see a big push from Dwight howard and his team trying to make a final push for him to stay )
Bulls ( best team in the east last year takes a step back, but still top 3 )
Knicks ( they put together a pretty nice team, they will have the 4th seed )
Atlanta ( allways one of those hang around teams that can never put it together
Milwalkee ( with the additions this offseason I could see them making the playoffs
Nets ( a solid team, but wont do anything speical )
Indiana ( barely made it last year, and didnt see to much improvement )

West

Thunder ( the up and coming team in the West )
Lakers ( still a top team, even though they chocked it away in the playoffs )
Mavericks ( I forsee them letting some players go they should not and not getting #1 becuase of it )
Nuggets ( Nuggets make a nice splash and got a good trade, if their team was paying all year together, they may have been even better )
Clippers ( Clippers in the playoffs, year right, well, I definitly see them making a nice trade after this lockout, with Gordon, Griffin, and whatever SF they aquire, they will be a talented team )
Grizl.ies ( griz make it back to the playoffs, but I see them letting OJ go, making them a litle worse, Gay comes back though and gives them another piece back )
Hornets ( hornets have a tallented team with a solid PG, cant see them not making the playoffs.
Timberwolves ( I see the timberwolves making it higher then this, but just cant push myself to put them any higher than this. they have all the tallent in the world, and can hopefully put it together, I would love to see Rubio Succede as well. )

Out of the playoffs

Spurs ( yea, shocker, I just dont see them making it, Timmy is old, Many isnt young, and Parker is up in age )
trail blazers ( with injuries to roy, Oden, Aldridge carried thm last year, dont see that hapening again. )

pacers could sign a PF with all the $$ they have and jump up a couple spots
magic could rise if they get josh smith with howard,or they could fall apart from howard saga?
Nets will win more games especially if they sign good help with $$.

So much can change. Just guessing if season even happens.

If the Pacers sign one of the bigger name PFs they will probably be a top 5 seed. It might look like I'm being biased, but I don't see how you could argue with it. They hung with the Bulls, they traded basically nothing for George Hill for some playoff experience. Signed Vogel as coach, Brian Shaw as assistant coach and now hired Kevin Pritchard into the front office (former GM of Portland.) Add a guy like David West or Nene' and tell me what makes you think they can't be a top 5 seed?

West
1. Thunder
2. Mavs
3. Lakers
4. Suns(not a homer choice. Hard cap will be set and it is known suns are only a star sg or pf away from being in contention. Therefore after hardcap teams will value carters expiring as gold to get under cap. Expect a big superstar trade involving brooks/lopez/pick and vc hence the extension of vcs deadline)
5. Spurs
6. Grizzlies
7. Portland
8. Nuggets(only if they keep both pgs and most of their wings. If not the warriors)

Why are people saying the Celtics are going to be worse than the Magic, Hawks and Knicks? Magic are going to be the same team as last season, Hawks are thinking about trading Josh Smith and the Knicks may sign a center to the MLE but that's the only thing changing about the Knicks and the Celtics were 8-0 against the Knics last year.

I am not sure why people are doing that either....i had the C's behind a few of those teams, but that does not mean they are worse. I see them as a "veteran" team that will do what they need to do to make the playoffs, and avoid injury in the regular season. I could see them being a 5-6 seed, but still being a contender. They are the types that would be favorites for a upset in the playoffs

Heat could finish with the 4 seed for all I care......as long as they win the title. I don't put stock into regular season rankings. Mavs won it all last year as the #3 seed in the West, so who cares really? Not meaning to sound like a jerk here, but it's starting to look like year after year, the #1 seed in the East almost never make let alone win the Finals. That's just how I feel.

1. Heat- Will be really hungry since their loss in finals.
2. Bulls- will keep their great defense and Rose will be unstoppable again.
3. Celtics- Vet team always seem to have a nice record.
4. Orlando- Dwight and company will be better
5. Knicks- got two superstars
6. Hawks- Will always float around this with this roster.
7. Sixers- have some good chemistry and good head coach
8. Nets- if they make some nice signings they could move up with the current roster now I think they are 8th.

1. Thunder
2. Mavs
3. Lakers

East
1. Chicago
2. knicks(they will make some signings and be the 04-05 suns on steroids)
3. Heat
4. Hawks(josh smith is gone and they get a strong legit center)
5. Magic
6. Celtics
7. Bucks
8. Wizards(i really like this team specially if the nets dont get any acquisitions)

Your theory on the Suns makes sense. They should try and pull of a trade this summer maybe for Big Al or Josh Smith, somebody like that. If they do make a nice trade they will be in playoff contention, but the fourth seed?

Suns are not better Grizzlies, Spurs, Blazers, Nuggets, Hornets (w/CP3), Clippers, and Jazz

How are they going to make the 4th seed or even playoffs? I am being serious

Nash
Dudley
Hill (If he resigns)
Morris
Gortat

is not better than the teams I mentioned above IMO

YOU ARE NOT READING EVERYTHING!!!. . .go back and read for the third time. . .pietrus is one of most coveted role players this offseason. Vince carters 18mill expiring with 4mill to buyout is gold for teams trying to get under the new cap. . .so if u think the suns are going to look the same way next year youre crazy. . .andose are valid good points memphis and hawks and 76ers will be willing to trade one of their stars to get under cap

If we can pawn warrick on someone then flip vince carter and throw ins for
Someone like rudy gay(i see memphis keeping gasol instead of rudy) and aaron brooks for jason thompson(sac is really interested in brooks)

Nash/dowdell
Gay/jchill
Hill/dudley
Thompson/morrison
Gortat/frye

thats a solid defensive/rebounding line up as well as some offense. . .but thats just one scenario.

Milsao
Hickson
Thompso
Barea
Josh smith
Gay

Among others have all been linked to the suns. . .oh and the team has like 7mill trade exception still to use

IMO it would be foolish for the Suns to deal Brooks since Nash will probably gone in 2 years. I doubt Hickson is a realistic option because the Kings just traded for him.

aaron brooks is a shoot first with low passing/ball handling skills our style of play needs a pg who is pass first but can shoot when needed, good pick and roll player and can keep his dribble alive in double teams or any kind of trouble. All qualities brooks does not meet, dowdell is better fit. It would be better to retool a bit give nash one last shot at a ring "ala dirk".

Pretty pointless thread for two reasons:

1. There might not be a season
2. Barely any teams have made changes to improve besides the draft and a few trades.

The Pacers will be sleepers and the Griz will be back in the playoffs. Decline of the Spurs and Celtics happens now and the rise of the Thunder and the Heat. Bulls get a mild setback in terms of rankings

Technically last year means nothin in that regard. The Knicks were in transition aquiring a new player in Amare and then making a huge trade midways in the season for Melo and Billups. By the time the playoffs arrived they lost those two key players to injuries. Those are important factors to consider. All this really don't mean **** to me considering the labor situation that will affect each and every team.

It's ridiculous to try and predict anything as far as playoffs next season with what will sure to be a shortened season at best if we are lucky.

Hard to say with all the recent lockout drama, but Heisley is committed to bringing back Marc Gasol. He is also on record as being pro Rudy. OJ is the only top 6 player for tyhe Grizz who is regularly mentioned as being expendable.

when i typed that, i could believe i was actually typing it. But, i do feel there is going to be a decline in the celtics, and with the upcoming teams, a surge could happen and celtics could drop significantly. With that being said, i wouldn't put my money on the standings i posted, were in mid-summer no talks and i just dont know.

With a GOOD coach replacing Rambis that team is a playoff team!!!!

Especially with Rubio, Williams, and veteran Brad Miller added to what they already have

First of all half the Celtics team is in a retirement home, second The Magic and Hawks are disfunctional and are trying to deal away there superstar players. The Bulls are overrated. If you think the Nets will make the playoffs, thats a joke. Vujacic and Outlaw dont cut it as starters. The Pacers and sixers are okay depending on how far Grange and Iggy will take them. As for the West your forgetting the Mavs didnt get better but got worse, Chandlers probly gone so now your playing mahinmi Kidd is 39, Dirk 34, Marion 34, Butler Might leave, Peja 34, Haywood 32, Terry 34...Age will catch up to these One year wonders. The Thunder are like the Bulls, they go through one player which doesnt get you any where unless you are MJ which there not. The Lakers are a little slow they have a crybaby rapist, metta world peace, a spaniard who chokes in the playoffs and a B***h named Andrew Bynum:mad: who is a stuck up ****** who thinks hes good when hes never healthy and takes cheap shots at my man down in Dallas JJ Barea. and Lamar Odom who dates the ugly Kardashian. Luke Walton. and Mike Brown who doesnt know whats going on... LOL.

I mean, it's not like the Bulls are the best defensive team in the league, or the best team in the East. They also don't have the MVP of the 2010-11 season right? And Sasha Vujacic and Travis Outlaw aren't starters for one, and with a healthy Deron Williams and Brook Lopez, free agency additions, and if MarShon Brooks hits the ground running, the Nets will be in the playoffs. I almost didn't take this post seriously considering you had the Knicks second, and the Bucks ahead of the Bulls, Celtics, Magic, Hawks, and Sixers.
