View Full Version : Were About To Lose A Big One: Brian Scalabrine Likely Headed To Europe

Brian Scalabrine has a tendency to captivate NBA fans with his hustle. Now, the former Celtic could be taking his talents overseas.
With the NBA's future up in the air due to the current lockout, Scalabrine said that he might play in Europe next season, according to the Chicago Tribune.

"For me personally, if in the next 15 days it's still kind of like it is now, I'm just going to Europe and play," Scalabrine said. "The thing about that is you have to commit for the whole year and you have no out clauses whatsoever. I support the players and the union and want to see the [NBA] game stay great. But at the end of the day, with two years or so left of playing basketball, I'm not interested in watching billionaires fight. I just like the game too much. I like the camaraderie. I like to play. So why not do it in a great city in Europe and educate my family?"

Scalabrine played five seasons with the Celtics from 2005 to 2010 and appeared in 18 games last year with the Chicago Bulls.

Brian Scalabrine pisses excellence. Whatever team he goes to is going to win the championship with ease. I think he should team up with Mike James and Brian Cardinal to form their own big three. That would be a force to be reckoned with. :-)

We've had the opportunity to enjoy this guy for a looooong time now, and it's time for the rest of the world to see the kind of greatness that most of us have started taking for granted.

I think this would really increase Scal's legacy. If he wins a title in Europe then I pretty much move him into my top three all-time. Anybody else feel the same way?

He won possibly the greatest game the Nets ever played, and was big part of getting Nets into the '05 playoffs.

well, it makes sense that he wants to go to Europe because hes one of the players that cant afford to take a chance of not getting a paycheck this year. hed probably get signed for a 1 year contract here, but its not looking good for the NBA. he needs to have a steady paycheck

I don't know about Mike James, but if Brian Cardinal and Brain Scalabrine went over to Europe and joined some obscure team and made them Euro-League champs in a year I would not be surprised.

He'll probably average a triple double for a season over there, only to come back and sign a max contract in the NBA next season.
