They were just talking about it on ESPN. No current players on the homepage, and players pictures were removed from their bio-pages. This is going to be ugly.

Also, there is an automatic one million dollar fine for any communication with players. They pointed out that this specifically includes "re-tweeting" player's comments.

Wait wait wait, so lets say I go to Dwight Howards page, and take any of his "tweets" and re-tweeted they will fine ME, $1,000,000?!

What in the world is going on?

Let's start a Fan Union! If we don't get B-ball when we want it, we won't give the NBA any kind of money, which in turn you all won't have a "pie" to spilt, in turn won't hurt us waiting for you all to cry about how to split the money we pay the league.

It's all in the hands of the fans. We don't pay, they have no lockout, or job.

This is plan stupid. IMO it hurts the fans the most, Stern is locking out the fans freom everything as well. NBA is going down and the rise of a new league everywhere else around the world. All the Euro players can play for their country and Americans will have to play Euro ball, thats something new.

This isn't only the end of the NBA. The Minnesota Gov't just shut down today. If you don't believe me look it up. 36,000 workers don't have jobs now, no MN lottery tickets, ect... The NBA and NFL lockouts are only the start of what is going down in America. The end of AMERICA and what made us so great!

haha, so petty and pathetic. "We gotta take them off NBA.com!"

How is that any different than de-friending your x girl-friend on facebook. Petty and stupid; this will be a long lock-out.

This has nothing to do with a long lockout, short lockout, tall lockout. This is Stern and the NBA being ******** and dumb.

The NBA is seen by millions over a 9 month span of time. PEOPLE KNOW THE PLAYERS ALREADY WHAT IS THE POINT?

This is something, WWE or TNA does to promote their wrestling storylines. Goes to show how far NBA is in terms of stupidity. Even the players are tweeting it. It's pathetic.

Things like this will not make players want to sign any sort of deal. This nonsense of not being able to tweet certain things is simply Stern and the NBA trying to say "How long will you last without being able to breathe"

*Silver&Black*
07-03-2011, 03:11 AM

This is actually a union move rather than an NBA or owner move.

"It comes from the fact that the players allow the players' association to license their images because it is such a huge source of money," said Ed Edmonds, a sports law professor at Notre Dame. "The licensing is under the control of the union. They can say that is no longer available."

Source: http://www.latimes.com/sports/la-sp-nba-website-20110702,0,4295319.story

The reason NFL didn't have their pictures taken down
"The NFL negotiated its licensing deal separately from its CBA, thus sidestepping this issue."

Maybe Stern isn't quite as immature as you were all claiming

JasonJohnHorn
07-04-2011, 06:43 PM
I've been thinking about this for a couple of days and I decided that I like it. It wouldnt be appropiate for the league to continue to post player videos and pics, and garner traffic and advertising revenue based on that traffic whilst the players who are generating the traffic arent getting paid.

Seems fair.
