According to a Tweet that appeared in the feed of Los Angeles Times reporter Brad Turner, Lakers' backup guard Shannon Brown will exercise his player option and opt out of his contract with the Lakers, making him an unrestricted free agent this summer.

Looks like S Brown's days with the Lakers are over.

Wont be anything without the Lakers

He realized he made a stupid move; the knicks offered him a contract last summer he could have padded his stats in the dantoni offense. He chose to remain and they probably were going to go in a different direction anyhow. Dueces.

Bring him to New York. We'd be a prety athletic team.. Stat, Walker, Shumpert, Derrek Brown, Shannon Brown, & Anthony.

In other news, I opted out of my contract.

Brown is garbage. He is a dunker. That's it...

This is good for LA.

No biggie. He's garbage. He started the season well but after the first two months, he was a very mediocre player. Overrated defender and a dumb player who dribbles too much. I surely won't miss him.

The Lakers are like the Raiders when it comes to signing players...

Everyone calls them scrubs until they hit free agency, then we see sigs. pop up of Brown in a Bucks uni, Sasha in a Wolves uni, or a Gallery in a Bears uni.

Its becomes quite comical.

I'm good with this, didn't like him on the Lakers aside from his occasional dunk he provides. If a team wants someone who holds the ball too long, sucks at the transition and pulls up for a shot instead of taking it in, then this is your player. He's a solid 8-9 man rotation player though, you certainly don't want him starting.

I wouldnt say Farmar is NOTHING. When Deron was out last season, he had some big games with the Nets.

You're wrong, he was a solid piece for the Bobcats. Basically every Bobcats fan was more upset about losing him than losing Morrison.

Its become quite comical.I was thinking the same thing.

He sucks, trust me.

He came in as a Cleveland reject. Ohhh'ed and Awww'ed us fans with his highlight reel dunks, he looks like chris brown, he started becoming a fan favorite, made the dunk contest, etc.... . Thats pretty much it, overrated defender for sure. Will never be a starter, career bench player who contributes the occasional sweet dunk and could defend the other teams 2nd best player. Losing him is a blessing.

So true. Out of all the Laker posters, there were only a few that actually liked having him on the team.

I mean no ill will to either Brown or Luke, but you're right, the Lakers can't get to where they need to go with either of these two still on the squad. It's time for the Lakers to bring in some post-Kobe-Prime talent that can help the Black Mamba win another title.

I wish all of the departing Lakers the best.

As laker fan I'm mixed on this, yea he took dumb shots and didn't fit in our offense, but I was happy to see farmer and Sasha go and we didn't really upgrade their spots. I'd rather have farmar and Sasha than Blake, if we upgrade shannon's spot then awesome, but if we get another player who can't really produce then it could turn out to be a bad move.

this guy was more selfish than farmar. only cared about shooting.

07-01-2011, 04:18 AM
He can't dribble. He can't defend. He can't shoot. He can't pass. He can't always finish, but sometimes and i do mean sometimes he comes out with a highlight dunk that's insane. He shouldn't make as much as the "old" MLE anywhere.

Hope Walton gets amnestied next (if there is an amnesty clause).

No one has ever said he was the "next kobe"

Now he's a reject? Explain how he's a reject after he "rejected" to stay with the lakers?

For whatever reason, people just assume everyone on the Lakers is good.

In reality, Shannon Brown is no better than Bill Walker.
