surprised he didn't get any burn in the finals. they needed his scoring from beyond the arc. you just can't bench a 3 point champion for one bad series =(

shows you how good of a coach Spolestra is

I'm pretty confident he isn't going anywhere, but he's definitely worth more than vet minimum imo. I hope he stays. He should've played in the Finals more.

I think he was jealous that Mike Miller finally got back on track and took his role

James Jones shown he can be that shooter EVERY team needs off the bench

I see ATLEAST 8 teams needing him and 2 contenders

He can get some decent money if he looks hard enough, lots of teams could use his shooting.

I hope the Celtics could offer him the vet min. or one of those other exceptions.

they should keep him. he is servicable. coach spo should have used him more in the playoffs.

Yup, every squad needs shooters. I agree. I mean the Bulls could use a guy who could hit a 3 with regularity.

He should go to a team like the Warriors or go back to the Suns

This is a surprise to me. Maybe he is upset over the lack of playing time in the finals.
I can't blame him.

first of all, this needs to be in the Heat forum, its not like James Jones opting out wouldnt be as big as a Chris Paul or something like that, you know, NBA Forum worthy. However, this sucks. James Jones is one of the 3 Free Agents I actually wanted to keep. We do have Bird Rights to him, so maybe he will stay. This migh be just him wanting a new deal with more money.

we dont? Why dont we?

He had an injury that took him out of the rotation. Thats why he didnt play.

Smart move by him. This is gonna force Miami to overpay to keep him. He was one of their best bench players this year. This is a step backwards if they lose him.

I think it's primarily because he's never had a big contract. The worst he can do is get the vet min again but more guaranteed playing time.

Knicks make a lot of sense here.

It was on the front page of NBA.com also, not just the Heat website lol

Knicks, Thunder, 76ers, Pacers, Hawks, Celtics and Lakers could use a shooter of the bench out of the playoff teams

KnicksR4Real

we could use his shooting in NY

^This. Could've used a small lineup with Chalmers, Jones and Miller spacing it out for Wade and 'Bron.

probably just testing the market.... lakers need shooting, but are crowded at SF. I wouldn't object if Brown leaves.

This guy was signed by miami basically as a back up plan for miller, he did well for them and probably thinks he can cash in.

the nba is slow right now, this does not have to be just in the heat forum.

no im fine with it, I just figured that, you know, you guys would be sick about talking about the Heat. Dont take this the wrong way, but the Heat get talked about more than the Mavs do......

Maybe he is going to Dallas then. I thought they were the champs.

did not want to hear this.... he would benefit most in Phoenix... but not for long cause Nash will be going soon....

I really hopes he stays...

No, we don't.
Yes we do, it doesn't matter if we bought him out last year. As long as he played the last three season with us that's all that matters.

Mike Miller is going to be there for a long time so I think this is a good move for him

James Jones was arguably the 4th best player on that team in the first half of the season/best shooter in the NBA

He will get a 3 year contract somewhere and it will be more than vet min

MrfadeawayJB

memphis will take him for the right price

Good move for him but if Im Miami Im not in a huge rush to re-sign him. He's a great shooter but a lil too injury prone and unreliable for my taste. Still got Miller and House to stretch the floor. Not a huge loss if he walks.......

i would want him on the Lakers

MTar786

nice to hear if he leaves miami. i hated how good his shooting was. easily the best shooter on the heat imo. i think miami got worse offensively when they started using miller over him. slightly better defensively. but mikes shooting wasnt what jones' was

Jones is just pissed he didnt play much in the finals. Probably will ask for more money.

I am sure his playoff benching was not well received. He will cash in somewhere where he can get the PT and the $$$. Whether or not it is a contender......we shall see.
