The addition of second-rounder DeAndre Liggins could signal that the Magic have decided to make J.J. the starting shooting guard next season.

It also obviously would mean that the club realizes it can't afford to bring back last season's starter, Jason Richardson.

Video: Irving taken first by Cavs in NBA draft

J-Rich is arguably the top free-agent shooting guard available this summer (or whenever the league reopens for business after a forecasted lockout ends.)

With Liggins and veteran Quentin Richardson, the Magic's concerns about Redick's defense in certain matchups might be alleviated.

Well they definitely shouldn't let him walk for nothing. At least sign and trade him to get a PF that fits next to Dwight.

they will not let him just walk out

Letting JR walk would seem to be a smart move on Orlando's part.

Now why would they do that

Bulls could really use him.

Because he is relatively useless?

:facepalm:He doesn't fit in Orlando...Let him go. Orlando needs to worry about how to trade Hedo or Arenas!

This. Our GM is creating a history of letting people walk for nothing in return.

Well I'm not sure about Detroit's interest in J-Rich, but Charlie V would be a good fit, IMO. A sign and trade deal for David West would also benefit both the Magic and the Hornets.

Point is they definitely have options.

I would listen to any offers, doesn't have to be a PF. Something that can become a trade asset maybe in the season.

I'm honestly fine with letting him walk if he wants too much money. No reason to keep adding bad contracts.

He basically just is the same thing Vince Carter was to us, and I think his contract was a big reason he one of the guys we traded for. He's the big expiring we have and the source of any sort of cap-relief that we need.

15 million coming off the books isn't a terrible thing.

LakersIn5

just let him be a free agent. free agent signings are better than sign and trades

if we wants another big payday he's gonna need to comeback to phoenix on the cheap and raise his stock.

he's nothing but a role player. he wont get paid but its clear it wont be with the magic. he's an excellent shooter but a role player. would make a great 2 for many teams if he lowers his demands

He wouldn't go to a team where he wouldn't be the starter. he should come to chicago if mayo or smith doesn't work out

J Rich isnt even J Rich any more, he followed the same exact path as Finley. They were both high flyin scorers, gained the 3 ball, became part of a good team, started shooting 3s more often, and then before you realize it, all they are anymore is a shooter with the occassional slash.

Timberwolves have some cap space and are looking for a SG. I'd love to see him come to Minnesota, but then I remember that its the Timberwolves :(

perfect comparison. j rich can still help some teams, though. he is a servicable player at the right price. chicago, nj, charlotte are three teams that come to mind.

As a Twolves fan, I have no doubt Kahn will offer up the money he wants. It will be between the bulls and the Wolves, and the Wolves will no doubt offer him more money than any other team. We NEED a veteran SG, its literally the position we are looking for. He is Perfect for us, and we will make the playoffs, so lay off the nonsense all you PSDers.

Ha, first thought that crept into my mind was J-Rich in the Chi. He's got defensive ability, will help with his shooting and scoring and shouldn't be too expensive. It's a great fit for them.

Chicago and JRich wouldnt be a good combo.

Why?
JRich cant get his own shot. He is not a shot creator.
He has big feet for a 2 guard so he doesnt drive to the hoop often.

He is also not a very good ball handler.

Thats what the Bulls lacked another person to create his own shot to
alleviate the defense aimed at stopping Rose all the time.

He avg 8.5 ppg in the playoff games, and his man to guard lit him for 20 ppg. Steve Nash just made him look good, he nothing without a running pg. Would be a good fit with the Bulls, or Nets.

LA_Raiders

Sign and trade would be the best option, but they really need to get rid of fat *** contract of Arenas & Turk if they want to bring real talent and keep Howard...
