View Full Version : Is the #7 about to be a trend in the NBA since Melo got the number?

LTBaByyy

Jimmer Freddette, Derrick Williams, and Brandon Knight are just a few that will wear the #7

Is this number going to start becoming a trend in the upcoming years?

And is it because of Melo?

Melo got 7 because he was 22 in high school and 15 in college and pros. 22-15=7 Don't know why he did it that way, but that's what I've heard.

Unless you're joking, this is not true at all. Even as a Knick fan, I'm not biased towards Melo but he's 8-9 overall in the league at best and 11-12 at worst. And Gerald Wallace is in no way a better player than Melo, nothing can back up that claim.

But I highly doubt Melo's number would influence the choices of draft picks, only all time greats like Jordan or Russell have that power.

just as much of a trend as players wearing 5 or 6 or any other # that is normal in the league.

See...you can't wear a number someone else has on the team...so...its not as much about picking and choosing your number, unless you got the cash and prizes to pry away a number from an existing player on the team.

All of these players wore the #7 last season:

All of these players wore the #7 in 2009/2010 season:

All of these players wore the #7 in 2008/2009 season:

All of these players wore the #7 2007/2008 season:

The number 7 is considered "holy", or set apart, within the Christian religion. Given the fact that few people have worn the number, the popularity of Carmelo Anthony, and the general African-American being Christian all help this number to become more popular.

Now let's talk about the important things, like where Dwight is gonna get traded to for Kwame Brown.

You're right, because there aren't worse role models in the NBA. I don't see Melo getting techs for arguing with refs. I don't see Melo saying gay slurs on national television. I don't see Carmelo bringing a gun to work. I don't even see Melo mocking his Coach or any of his teammates. He led his team to the playoffs every year since he joined them, then returned to his hometown to play for his favorite team.

What more do you want from the guy? To look exactly like you? I understand not liking him because you root for another team, but quit hatin'.
