View Full Version : Report: T'Wolves 57th pick Targuy Ngombo is actually 26; Pick will be invalidated

As it turns out, the 21-year old Ngombo is actually 26, and will turn 27 in July. Ngombo was a long shot to ever play in the NBA anyways, but now the forward from Qatar’s NBA prospects are essentially officially done; in fact, according to the NBA rules, he was ineligible to be drafted. Somewhere, the undrafted Ben Hansborough and David Lighty must be fairly amused. Or angry.

I wonder how they didnt know he was 26. His FIBA profile clearly says hes 26 years old.

They probably did know beforehand and didn't really care about him anyways. When they got to the end of the draft, just seemed like everyone wanted foreign players so they wouldn't have to pay out.

Kahn has really got to go, he is the laughingstock of the NBA

Its not entirely his fault, he was sold on the pick by their international scouts.(1 of whom was an assistant for the Chinese National Team who watched Ngombo drop 24/9 on them).

At the same time, Kahn drafted an ingelible player who was not cleared to be selected in the NBA Draft. He should've known better.

NBA is at fault for letting Adam Silver go on stage and read the name of a guy who wasnt in this NBA Draft.

David Kahn @DraftExpress C'mon, I knew Tanguy is 27. I drafted him because I heard we needed a veteran!

could care less. Anyone selected at #57 had about a 5% chance of playing in the NBA.

Not only that ^^^ but it's also embarrassing that the NBA allowed him in the draft. Laugh at Kahn all you want but obviously the league didn't know of his age either.

That 5% is Manu Ginobili.

Well the dude did lie to the NBA about his not only his age but his name, it's technically the NBA's fault because they did make him eligible.

Yeah, 'cuz 57th picks are so important... seriously, this just shows who the haters are.

That's weird though. Why was he even in the draft then? Isn't that the NBA's job to validate?

He should've come from Africa or China - they are much better at passing off mature 21 year olds.

Stupidity on part of the NBA and the Wolves. But still, a pick that late was very unlikely to even get a chance at bottom of the rotation, let alone be an important player.
