Hey guys, Some of you may remember that for the last three years I have conducted a poll at the end of the season that had PSD users vote for the top 10 players at each position. Its is now that time to vote! I would like to start this up once more considering the NBA season is now over and we can get to this discussion since lots has changed since the start of last season. Please TRY AND VOTE FOR THE BEST PLAYER AND DON'T BE A HOMER. I will leave the poll open for one day and than we can carry on to the next best player at that position. I will add more players after each round. I have also included the results of those last 3 years so everyone can see how much things have changed...Enjoy.

REMEMBER this is based on who is the best player, not the player who has the potential to be the best

Here is a comparison of 12 players in the poll from last season.

The list is not looking as bad as I thought it would. Aside from Parker being a spot down an Kidd going in early, I have no gripe with it.

I thought Curry or Billups deserved to go in as #7, but after looking at Lowry, he has a strong case for this one as well. I'm still going with Curry though, he's more efficient than Billups and Lowry.

Curry also leads Billups in many statistical categories per game and advanced, although Billups leadership is a factor. Billups D is always a good case for him but lets not forget that he did take a step back this past season, and for a PG who isn't known to defend (Curry) his DWS AND DRTG is very similar to Billups.

As I explained in my post in the previous thread I'll go with Billups. I see no problem if someone chooses Curry however.

Why are people voting for Wall? He's a 1st year point guard who is not really efficient. He has a horrible FG%, his 3pt shooting sucks, and turns the ball over at a high rate.

Curry, Billups, Lowry, and Conley had a better season than Wall.

Not sure why people are saying Curry is more efficient then Billups. When you don't include free throws, he is but Billups TS% is better then Curry's. Billups also turns the ball over less. And as an added bonus, Billups is better defensively.

Comparing their Pure Point Rating (http://www.basketball-reference.com/blog/?p=1120), Billups' is 3.38 vs. Curry's who's Pure Point Rating is 2.42.

Don't see why you would go with Curry here. A darkhorse could be Lowry, who's probably the best defensive PG this year but as I've said earlier, I don't believe defense is as important for a PG, so I'm not going to put Lowry higher.

Billups.

Last time I will mention I promise but really PSD is Kidd a top 8 PG going into next year? If they lose in the WCF or even Finals I dont think he would even get a vote for top 15 at this point in his career.

I would have went

Billups
Curry
Lowry

and then started to think about Kidd.

Owell I lose thie battle obviously:D

Isn't this a poll talking about NEXT year's top 10? If so, Wall looked pretty good as a rookie and I would expect him to improve a lot next year, probably into that top 10 category

No its not. Had that been the case Wall, Holiday, Lowry, Curry would have gotten much more votes and J. Kidd would not have gone at 7.

No one has a crystal ball so if we debate next year its going to be based on more on personal opinion than anything factual.

So based on his play last season and during the playoffs you don't think Jason Kidd is still a top 10 PG in the NBA?

correct if you are just looking at stats from this past year. I agree with the guy who said nobody would really be including him if the Mavs didn't win the title. Just my opinion

I think MacFitz92 disagrees with those who use the comparison of just regular season stats as opposed to regular season and post season combined? I refuse to believe that he thinks that career numbers should be included. That's just stupid.

I know I'm a homer and in the minority here, but I'm positive Jrue Holiday is a better player than Steph Curry.

Steph's got a very crafty offensive game and a really nice stroke, but he is possibly the worst defender in the NBA from what I saw of him last year.

Jrue's got the size, 6'4, 195... he's already put up numbers in the playoffs. And he's still only 20 years old.

He's a better scorer than people realize and his defense is worlds ahead of Steph's.

It should be Billups, then Wall, Jrue, Steph :) but ive been votin for Jrue since #1 haha

I voted Andre Miller. Guy is so underrated it's not even funny. I can't believe Billups, who doesn't do anything to run an offense and Curry, who can't play defense are leading this poll.

06-23-2011, 03:55 AM
what does billups do better than curry besides defence? not really much else, and at this point in billups career, his defence is washed up. His defence as a knick for half the season wasn't all that great

Well Billups is a much better all around player than Curry. Billups is a better leader and is just a winner.

Delfiffer

Look at their stats. Curry pretty much beats Billups in everything. Billups is a very overrated shooter, and not that great of a passer. Billups is only the better defender and at this stage in his career, he isn't that great of a defender
