After struggling against Chris Paul and D league talents, then getting swept in the second round of the Western conference play-offs are the Lakers contending status in serious jeopardy?

Several rumors are claiming the Lakers front office are trying to break-up their core but will that solve anything?

What made the Lakers successful in the past was a defensive specialist doing most of the dirty job for Kobe but since Artest won a championship, he seems to not care anymore. Before the 2010 season started, I told the Lakers fans that their team won't go far because I do not trust an unmotivated Artest, 100 percent of them laughed at me but look at the results. I still think the Lakers should keep their core together and look to beef up their bench, start Odom at SF.

What's your prescription for America's favorite team? Or is the damage already done and are in for years of irrelevance.

Shouldn't your account be deleted by now? Not a man of your word and you've said some ridiculous things on here. Finals 3 years in a row, and just flat out stunk against Dallas. They are not done, they will be a top 3 team in the west next year and still compete for the title.

And how do you see that happening with the same group?

:laugh2:

They just mad. If I was a Knicks fan, no one would have cared. Anything related to Lebron and they drooling.
They said I made a bet but none can produce who I bet with. They're like the Republicans, they will always find something wrong with Obama. There was an outrage on Foxnews when Obama bombed Libya......that's the case with me, I am not here to be friends with any of them. Heat all day.

The Lakers are done, no more championships for them with the current cast.

and the funny thing is, it has nothing to do with their talent, it's their collective mentality.

Kobe is now ball-hogging and not helping when he takes over. Gasol isn't man enough to demand he be the No. 1 option now. Artest has quit since he won the Title, and now Phil isn't there to rein it all in.

Can Mike Brown really get all those mental clashes to jell? My money's on No.

What do you expect Kobe to do?

His support SUCKS! No one stepped up. A contested leaning 26 foot jumper from a 33 year old Kobe is still better than a wide open 16 footer from Luke Walton. The only way that cast of players are going to win it all is if Bynum steps his game WAY up or Kobe chucks.

If Kobe passed up half of those 26 footers, maybe the Lakers would be better off. Just saying. Can't blame Luke Walton for getting one look all game, players need to get going, Kobe never give them the chance to redeem themselves IMO
