Greg Oden is being cautious in his recovery from microfracture surgery on his left knee and may not return until January 2012, according to his agent Bill Duffy.

“You proceed with caution,” Duffy told Portland radio station KXL, via Blazersedge.com.

“We don't want to come back too soon. We're not going to even challenge it until we get to that 12 month threshold. If it were December or November or January we just can't afford any more slip ups. We'll wait until we get full clearance and then probably err on the side of caution, maybe a month or so after that."

:(

This doesn't help my dream that my 76ers could some how steal Oden from the Blazers and give him the magical health serum.

That will pretty much end his career imo. I don't see how he can be even a decent role player if he can't walk before the age of 26. Sad story.

Can't blame them for being cautious, someone will be getting a steal if Portland gives up on him.

The only reason why we are still talking about him is because he was a former number one pick. If he wasn't he already would've faded away. Must suck for him.

So he will be going on 25 with 82 games of experience? Its a shame cause this kid could have been dominant. He'll never be more than what Kwame Brown was last year now IMO due to the rash of injuries

i remember when he was i high school and i thought he was going to be the next great center in nba history

well atleast he made a little money before he busted out (cause of injury) but any team that throws big money at him is just dumb.

Sorry, I'm going to say it.... he's only still injured because he plays for Portland.

Portland better not resign him!!!! Idc how good he used to be

Brandon Roy and Greg Oden signed up for more than 3 years = Money down the drain due to injuries

And he better find his way to the Suns if Blazers give up on him

Detroit's Arnie Kander needs to get his hands on Oden. Look what he did for McDyess and McGrady. Hands down the best trainer in the NBA.

This.

They worked with Penny & Amare after their microfracture and they had successful careers. They know a thing or two about recovery in this matter.

Us blazers fans didn't expect him to be back until january he will be 24 then the reason he got the last microfacture surgery was to heal his knees before he had no miniscus like Roy the doctors looked at his knees to see if one healed and checked the other to see if it could happen again in a game watch all these doubters won't be doubting when he fully heals I'm glad nobodys willing to take a chance he's dropping his weight to his college weight! That's the main reason he got injured people were telling him to get bigger when it wasn't needed!

The kid works hard at making a good return believe he's in the gym and in the pools getting his knees right look at what he did when he was playing it was around 12ppg 9RPG and 2BPG in limited minutes he will be a beast he just needs to get back!

People come back from these injurys his weight was just to much for his knees 280 was to much he will be 240 and dominate mark words

im sure he works hard. guy is just injury prone..... he was supposed to be a all time great big man.... sad he seemed to have a great attitude. hopefully one day he gets back too 100% because the league needs another great big.
imagine one day oden & d12 1 on 1 in the finals!

the guy looks old and acts old, yet the sad truth is he's only what? 23? 24?

I knew the Blazers should have gotten Durant instead. If that happened the Blazers would have probably win the championship this year.

Blazers has the poorest conditioning trainers in the NBA. Everyone seems to get injured in Portland. Roy and Oden should be traded to the Suns.

He'll probably never live up to his potential either due to all the injuries. That's too bad.

We pretty much already knew this. And he was a dominant player in his very limited time, and is in his low 20s. Why would he retire?

Damn I really feel sorry for him smh.. But somebody should have told him growing up he should've done more squats and deadlifts to carry that weight he has in his upper body

Amare came back, why can't Oden? To resign him is a cheap risk for next season. I would be cautious trying to come back at this point as well. He has missed so much time why rush it now.

Centres get hurt (minus Dwight). Its part of the deal. How many games have Bynum, Chandler, Perkins, Bogut, etc. missed.

He'll probably be back the same time the rest of the NBA is back. Lockout.

very nicely done...this should help curb some of those restricted FA offers the blazers were going to have to compete with...

...and the acknowledgement that there can be no more slip ups, is nice to hear.

he will cost at the bare minimum $9.6 million... how is that a cheap option for a guy who's guaranteed to miss a third of the season? And has never played even close to a full career. Portland needs to take their chances elseswhere cause if oden is hurt for his career, they only have camby who has 1 or 2 years left...
