The Dallas Mavericks bucked the odds to become the 2011 NBA champions, and they'll have to do so again if they want to repeat in 2012.

The Mavericks, who beat the Miami Heat in Game 6 on Sunday to win their first NBA title, are fifth to win the 2012 title at 10-1 odds, according to the online site Bodog.

Three of the four teams with better odds were eliminated by the Mavericks during this postseason: the Heat (5-2), the Los Angeles Lakers (Lakers) and the Oklahoma City Thunder (8-1). The Chicago Bulls have 6-1 odds.

dallas might repeat as champions. Next season, they will have a healthy caron butler, brendan haywood and roddie beaubois.

does anyone believe the mavericks will repeat, based on the odds?

I really don't think they will. 10-1 really isn't that great of odds without knowing what is going to happen in the off season.

It took a complete team effort to get it done this year. Insanely tough to repeat and do it all over again.

you can hardly call them doubters... the Mavs have been really bad in the postseason for a long time and they were not an excellent team in the regular season this year. No one outside of Dallas had any reason to pick Dallas to win this year...

Lets not turn this into any sort of Mavs get no respect card. People will always expect the rising stars to take over, its inevitable. Miami has a surging core that made it to the Finals off the backs of 4 maybe 5 players it can only get easier for them in the next 2 years.

I personally, dont think they will repeat. I have a feeling they will lose some players via free agency,

I think at this point that is where I would have them as well. now if they can get most of their free agents back and the cba doesn't screw them over they should be higher

the new cba may affect many teams who are in the luxury tax.
