"I want Monta Ellis on this basketball team," Jackson told reporters at his introductory news conference. "This guy is a big-time player. And I think he's the third best shooting guard in the league. You have Kobe, obviously, and Dwyane Wade. I will match [Ellis] up against anybody else on a given night and feel extremely comfortable about it."
Jackson did admit that Ellis could improve defensively.

"You can nitpick what he can and can't do, but at the end of the day, a coach will look brilliant if he has a guy who can go make a play," Jackson said. "He's a flat-out scorer. He's a much-improved, underrated passer and facilitator. He's a guy I embrace on this team . . . He's an outstanding player who I look forward to coaching."

would have meant more coming fro him if he would have said this before becoming the dude's coach...

LOL, put down the mic Marc. You'll have plenty of time for your misguided propaganda in post-game press conferences explaining losses next year.

When you average like 25 / 5 / 5 its true.

not surprising...of course he's gonna rep his player. what kinda coach would he be if he didn't think Ellis is a top SG?

Yeah, this means nothing to me... Ellis is still on the trading block. What'd you expect him to say?

When you average like 25 / 5 / 5 its true.

pace and usage my friend

and his defense is

look at the advanced stats... in his career he is -6 as player per 100 possessions... a guy that gives up more points then he can score will never be a top player...

Wade
Kobe
Ellis

IMO I don't think so.

he has his reasons for saying this. Obviously its not true at all however

He forgot Michael Redd..Ellis can be #4.

Offensively, Monta is talented enough, but as an overall player it's hard to say Top 3 when he doesn't play sufficient defense. That being said, you WANT a coach to say this. He's got to support his own players.

Who should be ahead of ellis then?

Agreed. Kobe..... Wade..................................Ellis. I honestly couldnt think of anyone to put instead of him, so i cant say it dosent fit, but i will say the gap between Kobe and Wade to Ellis is great.

Yeah, this means nothing to me... Ellis is still on the trading block. What'd you expect him to say?

Right. This was nothing was meant for Ellis and him only. If the Warriors can't trade him, Marc needs to plan the seeds in his head that he wants him on the team.

It's pretty clear the Warriors want to build around Steph Curry and their other more younger players...

We get it. PSD thinks Monta's an inefficiant chucker that plays no D. Insert stat now.

Kobe, Wade, Manu, Joe Johnson, Ray Allen, Kevin Martin are all better.

M.Bibby2.0
06-13-2011, 01:54 PM
This is silly, Kevin Martin is a way more efficient scorer, and they're both lackluster on defense. But I would still take Joe Johnson, Kmart, Tyreke, and Iggy (sf/sg) over Monta on my team.

1.Kobe
2.Wade
3.Manu (heads and tails above Ellis!!!)
3. Joe Johnson (heads and tails above Ellis as well, tied with Manu imo!!!)

5. Ellis, Kevin Martin, jr smith, Michael Redd etc.

No Marc Jackson you are absolutely wrong!!!:mad:

This guy is about to be exposed. I find it very irresponsible for ownership to entrust a head coaching position to someone that not only has never been an assistant, but continuously makes a fool out of himself every time he straps on a headset. Good job Warriors.. I'm glad I'm not a fan of your team. I feel sorry for my man Stephen Curry.

I disagree Mr. Jackson.

Kobe
Wade
Joe Johnson
Manu
Redd (Healthy)
Ellis

I disagree with this... we don't know what a healthy Michael Redd is going to give you anymore. There is no way in hell he should be put ahead of Ellis.

I'd put Eric Gordon and Ray Allen up there before Redd. Redd is a shell of his former self.

If a healthy Redd is going to be considered shouldn't a healthy Roy be as well?

I'd put him 5 or 6 behind Manu, Joe Johnson & mayyyyyb Ray Allen, Ray is just a little harder to assess considering he's the 4th best player on the team

Yep. Here come the advanced stats, projected stats for the next 3 years, historical stats for sg's his age and size, stats vs allstar sg's, stats on games played during holidays.... on and on and on.

But for the rest of us that actually just watch games I would easily say Kobe, D Wade, and then Monta. That boy is something else, and he's pretty nice in the clutch....

Its not like he said it before he was his coach.
