View Full Version : Would Derrick Rose be a better SG?

I don't think Rose gives the point guard position justice. What if the Bulls invested in a true PG (Nash maybe?) and moved Derrick to the 2, I think they might of done better.

He's too small and too bad of a defender to be an effective defender at any position other than PG.

horrible defense between rose and nash.

These threads are dumb, Rose is a PG, and a good one at that, he can't play the 2

He's a PG. Period.

Who says you need a "true PG" to win a championship? Rose's position is PG, just because he isn't the prototypical pass first PG doesn't mean you move him to SG where he wouldn't be a good fit at all.

If his teammates knock down their shots, he would of had a higher APG.

Anyways, I'm pretty sure there was a thread of this topic already.

trust me, Rose is fine at pg.

I'm not quite sure where this coming from but rose a very good point guard. He really isn't a scorer he just scores because he is so talented. Once he gets another scorer u will see a huge difference

The Bulls won 62 games this year and another 9 in the playoffs with Rose at PG. Rose is fine at PG and the Bulls are better off with him there.

Depends who is running PG...his skills is more suited for the 2 spot, but he(along with other young PGs) can get away with it.

:laugh2: The guy just won an MVP award and led the Bulls to the best record in the NBA playing Point Guard. He's always been a Point guard, why would you just switch a guy over now? You obviously haven't watched him play if you truly think he "doesn't do the point guard position justice"

he's already the best PG in the league. why move him to sg?

I like him at PG.

He's not a consistent enough shooter to be a SG.

He would be awful as a SG.

His range is bad. He improved this season but its still nothing to brag about. He is best as a slasher trying to set up guys, he is not an off the ball player.

Take the ball out of his hands and he is useless on both offense/defense.
He's fine as a PG, just needs to work on certain things.

He's 22 years old, won an mvp, and played on a team where he had to be the number one scoring option. Also he is " 6' 3' ". He is more like 6' 1''. If the bulls had a tall pg who could guard sgs, then possibly your idea would work. Otherwise, their back court would get torched on the defensive end of the court.

Rose doesn't even have a good enough jumper (Yet) to even be a SG.

Why is thread still open?

sure his skills are some what similar to a sg, but he is perfectly fine at pg, thats what gives him that advantage over other pg's.

Rose is a ball dominant player. He is best when he has the ball in his hands looking to score and passing as a second option. That's what he is, that's what he will be. He is never going to be a pass first PG - he's always going to be a scorer. But a scoring PG is fine as long as he's not selfish. Rose isn't a pass first player, but that doesn't mean he's a ball hog (cough... Iverson... cough). He's the 3rd best PG in the league now and he'll probably be #2 next year unless he regresses or Deron has a career year. Moving him to SG would be dumb. It'd kill his game. He needs the ball in his hands.

How many" D-rose should play sg" do we really need? He's a damn pg. He's not your typical pure point but who is nowadays

06-12-2011, 03:50 PM
wow why bring this up again rose is a pg and a damn good one. i have him as the 2nd best pg in the league right now only behind cp3. there is no need for a change and this is his best position enough said.

Um..no he's not the best pg in the league.

He's a PG because of his ability to slice the defense from the top of the key right when he crosses half-court...and to rise and shoot in the same situation...keep him at PG.

actually youre dumb kid, and its a smart thread.

yes he can and yes he should...

scoring points dont win ****...

Last I checked, scoring points does win. The team with more points at the end of the game wins 100% of the time. :eyebrow:

But yes, this is another dumb thread. We've had several of these over the last few months. He's undoubtedly a Top 3 PG in the NBA and you can make an argument for him to be the best or a Top 2 PG. He's fine where he is.

This thread is FAIL he is a PG and an MVP at that position.
