Theres been too much finals news threads (Lebron broke a nail or Terry sneezing) and not enough threads that can generate actual discussion.

So in your opinion, who do you think is the most underrated and under appreciated player in the league today?

Has to be that Eric Gordan guy on the Clippers.

He had the least talked about 22 ppg and 4 apg season... did anyone even know he had that many points?

Dwight Howard, he was easily the 2nd best player in the league this season and was overlooked by everyone... Some people still don't have him in their Top 5 rankings and think all he does is dunk and block.

Eric Gordon and Blake griffin both of them are beasts one of them is rarely talked about but IMO is the 3 best sg when healthy and griffin averaged 23-11-4 last year and some people don't think he will be a top 15 player next year!!

Oh and Kobe is underrated at this point I mean somepeople don't even have him in the top 5 others barely even have him at 8-9 and a couple didn't even have him in their top 10! Smh people psd where 13 year olds happen!

Guys like Dwight + CP3 are not the most underrated lol.

Dorrell Wright, Kyle Lowry, Tayshaun Prince, guys like that IMO are more underrated.

Shane Battier he is more then just the stats he puts up. He is a winner and that mentality helped the Grizzlies win their series against the spurs

Andre Iguodala. Doesn't get the type of recognition he deserves for his defense.

Yeah, just realized he made 2nd team All-Defense. Took long enough though. He's been one of the best defenders for years.

Manu is pretty underrated (defensively too). He held opponents to 34% on iso's; plus, the Spurs were 5.53 points per 100 possessions worse when Ginobili went to the bench (10th in the league). He was also one of the top defenders in guarding the pick and roll ball handler. Not to mention the fact that he's very good offensively. Just all around great player.

Luis Scola. The guy's almost a 20 + 10 player with good efficiency and nobody even knows he exists.

Luis Scola, Eric Gordon, Luol Deng and Aaron Afflalo are all great examples. LOL on anyone saying Monta Ellis. Dude is as one dimensional as they come and is what he is. A volume scorer who plays more minutes than anyone in the league and gets tons of opportunities to score in the Warriors system. He doesn't play defense or do much of anything else.

Eric Gordon without a doubt. But if I recall correctly he was hurt for some of last season. I remember in 2010 FIBA he played phenomenally

Andrew Bynum ! Lots of Lakers fans always want him traded, even though most teams general managers would take him in a heartbeat.

even if that was the case ( which is not) he is so good at them that he would still be top 5.

I like this list of guys as underrated (don't think as lowly of Monta as he does) but this is a good list of underrated players. Not as big on Afflalo as the Bulls forum is but Gordon and Scola would definitely be 1,2 on my list of underrated players.

Btw, if you made the first or second team all NBA then you should be automatically disqualified for any most underrated list or debate.

I really don't think many understand how good Manu has been over his career. Duncan gets, and should get, the MAJOR credit for the 4 rings, but he wouldn't have stood a chance without Manu crushing it on the biggest stage, and throughout their tenure together.

Agreed. I think Manu might be the most underrated player of the last decade or so. I think part of it is due to the fact that he doesn't score 30+ a night but what people miss about him is he's got a great all-around game. He impacts the game by playing good defense or by making a good pass or by playing the passing lanes etc. It leads to him always having one of the best +/-'s in the league, year after year. At some point, thats not just a coincidence. I think he's one of those players that are better then his numbers and he's got pretty good numbers.

Battier may be my pick for most underrated of the decade. EVERYWHERE he goes, they win. But Manu has some of that too, for sure.

There is a reason certain players bring about winning environments. They just get the things done that don't show up in the boxscore.

I agree with Shane all the way.. He's always helping some team overachieve... I used to hate Derek fisher but he's def one of those type of players...

The no stats all-star. He's def underrated; although, I think a lot of people realize he's a great defender. But it goes beyond that.

Yup. Both Battier and Ginobili seem to be great examples of that. I think with Ginobili it goes even farther though. He's got good numbers too and yet it seems like no one realizes this.

I thought I'd never like Kobe.. But I grew to respect him as a ball player. For all of his personal qualities I dislike. When I watch the guy hit dagger after dagger it reminds me of how Mike used to inflict pain on the league as well. It's like no way he hits this and he does. No question he's the closest thing we will see to Mike in a very long time
