i am NOT saying that the league should cut teams. i think it is not possible to do that since teams are well established at this point. also, it would be hard to determine which go and which would stay.

what i am asking is what do you think would be the perfect number of teams in the league?

where do you think the league started over expanding and adding too many teams and diluting the competition in the league?

do you think that the current 30 teams is good and anything under was worse? do more teams need to be added to make it better?

i think the league over-expanded a few extra teams over. i think something along the lines of 24 would have gotten a good amount of talent on each team without having the league being too small.

then again, they want to make money, and having more teams can get the league more money.

what is everyone else's take on this?

I think the perfect number would be 30.

I think the NBA should expand. More teams=more valuable larry o'brien trophy.

I think 30 is fine.

Some teams should consider relocation though.

Fewer is better competition wise. But the NBA wants to reach into as many markets as possible. You have to find a balance of those 2 factors.

They should do 15 teams with all of the best players, then make the other 15 leftover teams create a Minor league...

They should only allow 1 star per team.

30 is good maybe a few more teams like 34 to spread the talent out a little more evenly

I am going to say at least 34. It would spread talent, and it would raise the prestige of going to the playoffs. Right now, 16 teams make it, 14 dont. If there is 34 teams 16 teams make it, 18 teams dont. I would even go as far as to say 36 wouldnt hurt. It would even give more cities a basketball team, therefore a better economy (assuming people go to the games).

around 300 teams.

NBA PREMIER LEAGUE 20 Clubs 10 in each coast.
Nba First division 24 clubs 12 in each coast.
Nba Second Division 24 Clubs 12 in each coast
Nba Third Division 48 Clubs 24 In each coast divided in Two Groups
Nba Regional League , Several teams leageus in the differente states

Institute PROMOTION and RELEGATION, adjust budgets to teh division you are playing, teams NEVER RELOCATE they are allowed to spend more and try to go ti Premier division, or keep quiet an dlow profile not spend much and be in second or third division.
DRAFT is made with LOCAL ZONE LIMITATION so teams of the zone have preference

This way everybody has its team in their city, that they can dream of getting into the premier league one day it creates TRUE loyalty by fans , creates an incentive ( support your team so they dont get relegaterd to a lower league) for fans to go to "losing teams" games.
Creates better boundarys for players and citys.

Solves it all.
