This is a big game for both sides, but the Heat need to prevent Dallas from getting any sort of momentum heading into Game 3 @Dallas. I can't stress enough how important it is for Miami to continue to play the defense they've been playing, but Miami can play so much better offensively than they did in Game 1. There wasn't as much ball movement. I think offensively we survived a bit because of LeBron and Wade's shot making ability from the perimeter. It's nice to see, but you can't on it all the time. We took too many 3 pointers as well, even though we made 11-24. We need to have more FT attempts than three point attempts to win not just this game, but the series as well. We settled too much in my honest opinion. Still, nothing is more important than the defense we put forth. We need to keep the defense up. No excuses.

While the mavs lead a decent amount in game 1, they were playing the Heat's game from the start. Slow, low scoring, defensive. They gave into the Miami playstyle almost instantly, and it probably killed them.

I still can't help but feel like Dallas is going to shoot better than last game, Dirk in particular, and Peja possibly. Bosh shot 5-18 and I don't think that's going to happen again either. I also expect Wade to be more efficient. But the offense of Miami has to be smoother. We took too many three's. Yeah, we hit them, but we can't rely on it. Our game is attacking the rim with force, and LeBron and Wade shooting 7 combined FT's aint gonna cut it. They were too passive last night, and they gotta be more aggressive for the rest of the series.

Jay16
06-01-2011, 01:50 PM
DALL had to work for everything they got. They aren't used to a frind out game like that. They did play right into our hands. I still don't know how this series can turn out but if it stays this low scoring we are heavy favs.

Kinda sucks we have 2 of the top 3 players in the league and we have to hope for a low scoring game. But I'll take it.

I agree with all of it, just wanted to point out the areas as to why I believe the Heat can sustain their momentum to a game 2 W tomorrow night. In what feels like a must win game for both sides, I like the Heat 94-90 at home.

Dirk is going to have to become ungardable in the 4th quarter much like he has been in previous games this post season. Miami's main strength is that they can hang around and close games out with the big 3 making shots and good team defense.

Dallas just has to find ways to score and Dirk is a guy that can get that done regardless of how he is being guarded. But, he's got to step up late in every game to get it done. If Dallas can get points late in games they can beat the heat. It was the one thing that was missing from the bulls and Celtics.

Hold down south beach. Miami cant afford to go into Dallas with a 1-1 tie trying to take 2. If not they'll risk going down 3-2, which i do not like. Take this one at home and then worry about taking 1 of 3 on the road.

This game is huge for both teams!! Bottom line is this, the Heat have to continue to defend and rebound. Also, Bosh and Wade must be more consistent and fluent throughout the entire 48 minutes, not one half, not one quarter, the whole damn game! This Dallas team is too good offensively to turn the ball over, and waste possessions. Don't get into a three point shooting match with this team either. Miami's shots went in Game 1, but you can't rely on it for Game 2, for it isn't our strong point. We gotta stick to our identity and attack the basket at all costs. Don't let their zone dictate what you do offensively. But most importantly, continue to defend like you've been doing and rebound the ball. Don't allow second shot opportunities for them, they'll kill you that way! Big game tonight for sure!!

SteBO

All in all, Miami knows how important taking a 2-0 lead is, while understanding the risk of a 1-1 split going on the road. They know that defense and rebounding is key to winning this series, and LeBron, Wade, and Bosh understand that they, as well as the whole team, can play much better than they did in Game 1. I'll say Miami will win this one, but in the single-digits. Dallas will play better imo, but so will Miami, hopefully.

yea but Durant is nowhere even close to Lebron's inside presense, both offensively and defensively. Why shoot jumpers when you can go inside and draw contact. That's why OKC is sitting at home and Lebron is in the finals. Durant can score, no doubt about it, but if you're gonna win the playoffs you gotta get physical and get the other team in foul trouble and get points in the paint. Durant shrinks when the opposing team is physically battering him.

Wonder if Lebron heard this:

Might have to start doing the Jordan shrug if he makes a lot of 3s.

Where did you get that quote from Stevenson?

This is what he said as of late...

"I think he had a decent game. I don't think he had a game where he just dominated, but that shows a lot about the type of player he is and the All-Star that he is that he can have an OK game and he's 24, nine and five," Stevenson said

I honestly think whoever wins this game, wins the championship

It could be 1-1 going to Dallas for 3 straight home games where Dallas is just as good at home as the Heat are in this playoffs only losing one game

Or

Dallas goes down 0-2 which would hard to come back from

Unless Stern wants a story book ending with the Mavs doing what the Heat did in 06

Can we please stop removing the competition from the game and placing outcomes in some outlandish conspiracy!? It's really petty, childish, and just  If you believe so much that the players don't dictate outcomes, but rather David Stern, then why watch at all? Seriously...Why do you even watch? Your so convinced that Stern has some elaborate massive conspiracy, where he pays off referee's to dictate outcomes. That would kill the game, and is just absurd. Give it a rest. I get it, it takes away any responsibility form losing, and creates an excuse, which is easier for you to swallow...You'd rather believe that all these fan bases we're robbed by Stern than just accepting the fact that a team lost. What in the hell are you going to say if Dallas wins? That Stern favored the Mavs this year, thus all NBA competition all year is null and void. Therefore your Championship won't mean jack. What's the point of even playing the game? Any argument concluding that the NBA is rigged is flawed. PERIOD. There is zero dignity in what your suggesting, and completely ruins the game. You can't be a fan of the NBA and buy into this utter crap. Most tired and naive argument among losing fans. Your better than that right? C'mon...

The 2-3-2 is so dumb.

A) I don't think the lower seed should at any point in time have played more games at home than the higher seed
B) I don't think it's fair to expect the lower seed to win three games in a row just to hold serve at home

Probably favors the top seed a little more. Either way, it sucks.

Anilyzer

I mean, it's probably just a coincidence, but obviously going into the weekend, it is a MUCH better show if the series is 1-1.

I'm not sure how this could have any possible bearing on the outcome... but just saying, in a "perfect" NBA world Dallas wins tonight, and probably has (and keeps) a 10+ point lead all through the 4th quarter and wins by appx 10 pts.

FTs

Dallas 45

Miami 34

You sound like the people who have the consipracry theroies against the Heat. "If the Heat win, the league wants them to". Now you go and say "If the Mavs tie 1-1, it means the league wants this series to be long". No, if the Mavs win, it is simply because they played better, PERIOD. The better team will win. Sure the league might want the games to go to 7 because people watch them, but if the league interfered with the games we would have seen more 7 game series throught the playoffs. Heat vs. Celtics and Heat vs. Bulls drew HUGE ratings and I am sure the league wanted them go to 7, but they both went to 5........ There is no conspiracies..

Anilyzer
06-02-2011, 06:56 PM
so its not but if dallas wins it will be?

No... It will just be a coincidence or a lucky guess. We're not drawing any causal connections here or giving any logically valid reasons why it would happen that way.

But just saying, Dallas by 10, series goes to 1-1. That is more exciting, and it is also a MUCH easier journey to get us to the "pivotal" and "ultimate" game 5 in Dallas, with the series at 2-2.

Of course we all know it will be very difficult, almost impossible, for Dallas to go to Miami and win two games on the Heat's home court. It would be one of the great acheivements in the HISTORY of the NBA Finals... so we know the probable outcome. However, this will still be one of the greatest NBA Finals EVER, and we might even see an amazing, hall of fame, never before seen Game 7 spectacular-ganza

Look... I already said there's no "conspiracies"... I find the whole notion of "conspiracies" to be ridiculous.

I'm just saying, Dallas by 10 tonight, FTs 45 to 34 Dallas' favor, series 1-1, awesome series, awesome ratings, done deal.

I'd venture to say, that the outcome I describe is literally, LITERALLY, a 2-1 favorite to occur, tonight, on Miami's home court.

Dirk Nowitzki suffered a torn left tendon on that finger late during the Mavericks’ 92-84 loss to the Miami Heat in Game 1 of the NBA Finals on Tuesday night.

The All-Star doesn’t expect the injury on the non-shooting hand to be an issue the rest of the Finals and he is slated to play in Game 2 on Thursday night.

Soft passes, dribbling and catching weren’t an issue for Nowitzki in practice, but it’s unclear how he’ll respond to much harder contact during games.

“I don’t think it’s going to be necessarily bothering me on the shot,” Nowitzki said before Wednesday’s practice. “Obviously, on the shot you only hold the ball with the left hand. It’s not like you do anything crazy with it. It’s going to be other stuff, dribbling, passing, catching, swiping down, stuff like that. I think it will be OK.”
