TheHighLife
05-31-2011, 04:54 PM
A couple, less than the Lakers.

Jaji
05-31-2011, 04:57 PM
I'd say 2 simply because Kobe was great enough in his prime to win multiple championships given just an above average team. But its hard to tell because there are so many variables. Would the franchise still have drafted Chris Paul? Would they still have left Charlotte and the Eastern Conference? 2 sounds like a good number to me but could be more, could be less.

JordansBulls
05-31-2011, 05:04 PM
He grows faster into a star with the Hornets but it all depends on who else they get. They probably never move from Charlotte if Kobe is there though.

AntiG
05-31-2011, 05:08 PM
probably none. Shaq wouldn't have joined him in Charlotte, and Zo and LJ had already left... and with Kobe around they probably would have won enough games so not to land Chris Paul.

Bruno
05-31-2011, 05:08 PM
Impossible to say. That would depend on the management.

DoJoTheSlasher
05-31-2011, 05:20 PM
Well, New Orleans would not have drafted Chris Paul so they wouldn't have had him. Know one can possibly find out how many he would've won. We all saw the incredible talent around him (Shaq, Odom, Gasol for a year or two, Horry and Fisher being so clutch). Would he have gotten anyone like Shaq? Probably not. Gasol? Maybe.

05-31-2011, 05:48 PM
Well seeing how he forced the Lakers hand to surround him with better talent or he is gone.

I am pretty sure he would have done the same to Charlotte. Now would they have listened to his demands like the lakers did is a different, Impossible question to answer.

Exactly. If the Lakers hadn't of made this trade the day before the 1996 Draft, who knows what team he would have ended up on. So it's not even a question of "how many rings would he have won with Charlotte?", since it's unlikely that the Hornets would have picked him.

3,503,209 rings.

All from the gumball machine of course.

Mobsterkel
05-31-2011, 06:18 PM
0 because its the hornets, because he is was on the lakers, he won those titles in the nba it is very rare to see a small market team win except san antonio. the nba heavaly favors big market teams especially the lakers.

Mobsterkel
05-31-2011, 06:21 PM
The nba acutally looses money if the smaller market team wins and all they care about is money it's getting a little better cause the FBI is watching them, say if dallas wins the finals they nba will loose money on merhcandise etc. if they heat won they would make a fortune, I know its bs, i hope the nba can get there act together for the sake of the league and it's fans

Pointless thread to be honest. There is literally no way of making an accurate prediction, too many variables come into play. Would Kobe's development be the same, the talent level of the supporting cast, coaching, playoff matchups etc. Any estimate is nothing more than an arbitrary number.

I think Kobe is an Allen Iverson who lucked into an amazing situation where he was kept in check. IMO he definitely wouldn't have won his first 3. In 2005 he probably would have bolted to the Clippers (he was really close to signing with us in 05), and he probably wouldn't have won anything with the Clips either.. So yeah 0.

How many titles would Jordan have won if the Trail Blazers would have selected him instead of Sam Bowie? We could do a thousand what-ifs just like it. It's not something Im big on but have at it there's no better venue than a discussion board to address such hypotheticals.

My answer would probably be 0-2. 2 being the absolute ceiling considering the limits of a supporting cast he would've probably faced In an unattractive place to play like Charlotte/NO.

Love Kobe but damn man, if we start this there's possibilities all over.
-How many would Portland have won if they drafted MJ?
-Would Miami be together now, Amrae and Melo in NY, or Pau Gasol in LA; if Boston would have won the lottery and gotten the number one overall pick when they desperately wanted Greg Oden, thinking he was their next Bill Russell; after they lost the lottery they went on another route and traded for KG and Ray Allen thus paving the way for Miami.
-Would Lebron have stayed in Cleveland hand they matched the Jazz's offer for Carlos Boozer? How many rings would they have won?
-AND SO ON......

No, not even close. Shaq won 3 finals MVPs for a reason, and put up probably 3 of the 10 greatest finals performances ever. He single-handedly dismantled the Pacers. He probably could have beaten them 1 on 5.

He lost with Penny because he was facing a center who was superior at the time. Once he got into his prime in LA, there were no other good centers in the league. It was Shaq's for the taking.

Besides, Shaq>Kobe easily. Right now, Kobe's career > Wade. When Wade retires, it will be Wade>Kobe.

kobes rookie season with the hornets would have taken him to round 3 of the playoffs, and round 2 his sophmore season..up until 2004, aside from the lockout of the 99, the hornets made the playoffs. one would think kobe would have won one or two. 99 to 2004 would have included a baron davis and kobe bryant backcourt..and baron was killer back then. also, PJ brown and jamal mashburn, and jamal magloire

knicks4life33

you cant say 0 first of all . you dont know what roster would have been around him after all those years. so before jumping the gun im pretty sure he would of won at least 1 championship and im pretty sure the managment would of put a roster around him to win a championship. the worst managemnt ive ever seen is the minnesota timberwolves. if the management was willing to spend money and build around kevin garnett they could of won a championship and im not talkin about trading for a old sprewell and old cassell .

It's interesting because the east was so weak post-Bulls dynasty, for a few years.

I bet he would've went to New York or Chicago when his contract was up (if the Hornets weren't contenders).

Really, if he went to a decent team out east I think he could've made it to a couple Finals, maybe winning 1-2.

Again, people forget how terrible the east was back then. The Sixers, Nets, and Pacers were all good teams for a while, but they just didn't stand a chance against whoever came out west. Even if it wasn't LA, I mean the Kings, Spurs and Blazers were all disgustingly good.

So who knows. Really this is an impossible question to answer.
