lmao at bulls fans complaining about the refs. Remember the Boston-Heat series when a lot of you were pulling for the Heat to win because you guys wanted "better competition"? :eyebrows: Anyone in a straight sense of mind would realize playing Boston would be much easier than a series with Miami and the refs. Karma's a *****

celtics would have won in 6

And Rose's ball hogging skills are becoming more evident by the day. Game 4 on that last possession of regulation, Deng had a wide open lane to the basket, but Rose had to be the hero and take a horrible shot. He did the same thing again tonight. Rose is hurting his team in crunch time

1-7 against the celtics and bulls reg season. 8-2 when it counts. Hilarious how many hated and acted like the heat had no chance to best Chicago when the playoffs started. Congrats to the bulls fans that stayed level headed during the reg season. The rest get a nice big "told ya so". Reg season means nada.

Barkley just listed about 500 excuses for Derrick Rose

He doesn't deserve any props for anything this series. I've never seen a superstar play as poorly as he did in a single playoff series ever. I might be exaggerating...but 117 points on 120 shots? He shot 35%. He shot 7-30 from three.

He was bad. His team was still in every game, because of their defense. Now I guess I don't need to keep apologizing for crediting Chicago's regular season success more to the defense than to Rose. I think that proved to be a fact this series. They were in every game despite Rose playing bad basketball.

celtics would have won in 6

Looking back at this series. i believe Celtics would have won as well. Boston's defense is amazing too and they have 3-4 scoring options on the floor. Boston would have win in 7 instead.

chicago's weakness is the SG position. no secondary win scorer to keep the defense honest. This is where Melo would have helped out. NOAH DID NOTHING THIS SERIES and proved that trade would have helped Chicago much more. Taj Gibson and Asik would have done equal amount of work in Noah's place.

sure they might not have won the regular season, but playoff wise- they were more built for it.

Again: I cannot wait to watch LeBron guarding Dirk. (Almost as good as me vs. @stephenasmith tomorrow at 10E, ESPN2. He's Dirk. Ha.)

In the House that MJ Built, LeBron had one late stretch worthy of Jordan.

DWade detonated that comeback, LeBron added 3 crowd-crushing exclamation points, Bosh calmly hit 2 huge clinching FTs. Amazing 18-3 finish.

In 2 straight big games, DWade went from playing his absolute worst to suddenly playing his best when it mattered most. Heart of champion.

Ofcourse i was being sarcastic. Bulls fans will find every excuse in the world. Bulls were outplayed by superior talent. Wasn't stern, he would have milked out a game 7 and gave it to Miami. It wasn't the refs, calls were even.. lebron gets destroyed everytime in the lane and doesn't always get the call. It was Chris Bosh, D-Wade, and Lebron scroing 69 out 83 points and closing you guys out.

It makes no sense that the NBA would want this series over this early.

ewmania

i guess the NBA will ignore this also

Basketball playoffs 'rigged for ratings', says referee Tim Donaghy
James Bone in New York
A rogue referee has accused the world's top basketball league of rigging key games to boost ticket sales and television ratings.

Tim Donaghy made the incendiary claims against the American NBA in an attempt for leniency after pleading guilty to gambling on basketball games that he had refereed. The allegations appeared to be timed for maximum effect, coming only hours before Tuesday's game three of the NBA finals between the Los Angeles Lakers and the Boston Celtics.

“If the NBA wanted a team to succeed, league officials would inform referees that opposing players were getting away with violations,” Mr Donaghy's lawyer wrote to the court. “Referees then would call fouls on certain players, frequently resulting in victory for the opposing team.”

Donaghy's most serious charge is that league officials twice manipulated the NBA playoffs, the elimination phase of the annual competition. He alleged that two referees known to be “company men” rigged the 2002 playoffs between the Lakers and the Sacramento Kings to ensure that the best-of-seven series ran the maximum number of games.

The Kings needed a win in game six to clinch the series but, Donaghy claims, the referees ignored fouls against the Kings and awarded “made-up fouls” in the Lakers' favour to swing the match so that the series would go to a seventh game. Two Kings players —Vlade Divac and Scot Pollard — were sent off as they tried to defend against the Lakers star Shaquille O'Neal.

The Lakers won game six and game seven to win the series - and, ultimately, the championship - amid howls of protest and a call for an investigation from Ralph Nader, the consumer advocate and former presidential candidate.

Donaghy also accused NBA executives of instructing referees to target the Houston Rockets' 7ft 6in- tall star Yao Ming in a 2005 playoff series against the Dallas Mavericks. The alleged instruction had helped the Mavericks to rally from a 0-2 deficit to win the series, resulting in more tickets sold and more televised games”, Donaghy alleged.

The disgraced referee complained of “improper interactions” between umpires and team members. Some referees took autographs from players and merchandise from managers, he said, and one used a team's practice facility to exercise while another frequently played tennis with a team coach.

“Such inappropriate relationships could influence the outcome of games,” his lawyer said.

Donaghy is awaiting sentencing on July 14 after admitting that he bet on games at which he was officiating and provided coded tips to high-stakes gamblers for a $5,000 payoff. He could face up to 25 years in prison but is hoping for probation to reward his co-operation with prosecutors.

The NBA scoffed at his allegations. “He's a singing, co-operating witness who is trying to get as light a sentence as he can,” David Stern, the NBA commissioner, said. “He turned on basically all of his colleagues in an attempt to demonstrate that he is not the only one who engaged in criminal activity.

“The US Attorney's office, the FBI, have fully investigated it, and Mr Donaghy is the only one who is guilty of a crime. And he will be sentenced for that crime, regardless of the desperate attempts to implicate as many people as he can.”

Phil Jackson, the Lakers coach, who has led nine NBA championship-winning teams, has called for referees to be put under an outside entity separate from the league.

Dirty tricks

— According to Greek myth, the Olympic Games have their origins in match-fixing. The poet Pindar wrote that Peplos accepted a chariot race to win the king's daughter, but bribed the charioteer to replace his linchpin with one of wax. The Games were established to celebrate his victory

— The earliest recorded case of match-fixing occurred in 1900. Jack Hillman, the Burnley goalkeeper, is alleged to have offered the Nottingham Forest side 2 a head to “take it easy”. The offer was raised to 5 at half-time. Burnley lost 4-0

— Porto were excluded this month from next season's Champions League after the lengthy “Golden Whistle” investigation into the alleged bribery of referees in the 2003-04 season

— In 2006 the Italian clubs Juventus, Lazio and Fiorentina were demoted to the second division and banned from playing in Europe for their involvement in a match-fixing scandal. After several appeals only Juventus went down, while the others, plus AC Milan, had points deducted

— This year China's badminton head coach admitted fixing the 2004 Athens Olympics semi-final. Zhou Mi was asked to let her Chinese rival win because Zhang Ning stood a better chance in the final

Team defense is what i was reffering too. Noone on the heat shut down D-Rose alone. The team defense is what smothered him .. Players who take PRIDE ON BOTH SIDES OF THE COURT. Not just their PPG. CP3 is a great defender..no doubt but thats IF they even land him they are going to have to learn how to play defense collectively on a offensive minded team... Knicks are hoping on IF's to contend with the heat. Its no discussion Bron/Wade/Bosh > CP3/Amare/Melo .. and thats IF it happens..

They couldn't fill half their stadium until this year. Go Marlins! You guys probably don't even realize you have a baseball team... Until they're in the playoffs of course.

Come check out the Marlins forum some time. Have some really good posters in there and the forum has been active this season moreso then others. But thanks for the mention! 29-19!!

I've read that its a possibility miami is eyeing him as well.

http://espn.go.com/blog/truehoop/miamiheat/post/_/id/3373/should-heat-eye-greg-oden-this-summer

NGL if MIA lands Oden and he stays healthy the league might as well go on strike. I see NY landing him, b/c if your Oden you have a chance to be a legend in NY or BOS or CHI or LA, you can't be that in MIA, Wade is that, you'll never carve your place there.

They need to cut alot of money to pay full value for their 3 when we got ours DISCOUNTED making room for more players... IF WE LAND GREG ODEN IM SURE WE WILL BE A BETTER TEAM AS WELL.. can't rely on ifs..

Well Bosh improved his team defense pretty damn well over the offseason. They're roughly the same size and Amare is more athletic so I can't imagine it being hard to improve at it.

Add the fact(assuming they actually acpuire cp3) they'll have an elite pg defensive. From there you get a defensive minded SG/center, they can easily have one of the best defenses in the league.

Melo has 0 D though, and that's a big liability considering they'll be playing the Heat quite often.

and no its not at worst equal.. at best its equal. Amare and Carmelo can not play a lick of defense.. if they learn how to play defense then yes they could be equal.

Actually it is, b/c they get up to play you, and did you not see the Eastern Conference Rd.1, I hate D'Antoni but the Knicks were playing D. Shocked us in NY, the only reason we loss was b/c 1/2 the team was on the IR.

Good point, Seems to me that bosh has a higher IQ than amare basketball wise. Also.. cp3 is going to struggle with a team who's primary ball handlers are 6'8 and a sg who is 6'4 225 lbs and has a post game. He has never faced that in a 7 game series

Miami is creating our history now. It is a city on built on vices .. drugs in the80's partying.

Its very easy to have dedicated fans in New York with the history the Jets/Yanks/Knicks/ etc have ... you guys have a 60+ year history 100 years in some sports.. compared to miami who had franchies for 25 years.... Keep being angry that Miami is competing in your era of sports in basketball and baseball... Go home and go to sleep and keep hoping cp3 goes to NYC

I'm guessing this is your first time watching the bulls?

I've never seen anyone who's ever watched Rose for more than a few games say that he isn't amazing.

Have fun hating.

Well, these playoffs are the most I've seen Rose, I have to admit. But, ehhh. He is great at getting to the hoop, but with defenders around he seems to just throw up a weak prayer too often. He sems to have a great touch on his passes, but he really doesn't seem to see the floor with the eyes of a point guard and he really makes some poor decisions. And I would be worried if I was pinning my hopes on a guy who bricked a free throw in a very critical situation; I mean, he's the scorer on the team and he blew a critical free throw.

He is young, I'll give him that, and he is good, but overall, as a point guard, I really can't see that he's as good as everyone has anointed him as being. Obviously, the team needs offensive help, but at this point I see him as a good young player that might or might not get to where so many like to think he already is.

Still, it was a great season for him and for the Bulls, and it's a shame they have to lose in a game like this. Best of luck to him and to you guys next year--assuming there is a next year.

I think the idea of emptying your roster and creating a superteam is a terrible thing for the league, and I am a born and bred Knick fan, but yeah, I would have to say your rating of the "potential" Knick team as against the Heat is pretty much on target. The only trouble is, I don't see Amare ever learning to playing defense, and I can't see Melo really ever taking it seriously for more than short stretches. Dwight/Amare/Carmelo, with a decent young point guard would be a much better option if I'm dreaming; that, I would say, would be more equal.

negro we miamians are late for everything.

the children born in jackson are born LATE

you from miami you automatically late for EVERYTHING

we never fill up the stadium right away. dolphins, heat, wining, title game, it dont matter, we always late.

its the life style cus theres things to do in this town, like the best girlie bars, the best clubs (on par with LA) great beaches, great night life, great year round weather, our women are fine as ****, and we got some of the best dance and latin food in the US. and thats allllll the time son.

**** i was late to my graduation, wedding, child being born, and late for losing my viriginity....does that make me less commited, no, but its how we do.

sides the phillies are only up a game and a half on the fish so far, shouldnt be that close at any point. our attendance sucks cus the stadium is awful for baseball, you fail to mention we have the best tv ratings in the mlb, you also fail to mention were going to have a gorgeous stadium and have won 2 titles already.(the marlins in case i have to explain it to you).

thats more than the joke of a team mets have pulled off in how many years of existence? sides the yankees and the giants on occasion, y'all dont really got anything, knicks and jets aint done smack in 40 years. dolphins havent either, but they did more when they had the chance thats for sure.

hell miami ghettos are even nicer cus we got palm trees!

for real y you hatin so much.

I live in sports USA, the city and place that makes you a legend. Why would I envy you?

I got my SuperBowl Giants in the greatest SuperBowl EPIC finish ever, I've seen the Rangers win, I can always raz on Mets/Nets fans, and I'm a Yankees fans w/ my Knicks becoming relevant again, why should I envy you? :laugh2:

Never said we won anything. I quoted our record against the bulls and celts. We were 1-7 against the bulls and celtics during the regular season. There was 100's of posts from bulls and celtics fans saying we couldnt beat either team based on those regular season victories.

well, we also had a 0-2 record against the Mavs. If we win we will have turned the tides on all 3 teams. THe mavs will be alot tougher IMO as they are seasoned and deep. I've got much respect for the mavs team.
