View Full Version : Will the NBA ever have an all-out fantasy draft?

Serious question. If the NBA really does have a lockout, and they really do make a drastic change in the hard cap, will the NBA be forced to or should have an all out fantasy draft of every single player in the NBA? Stars included. Is it even a good idea to have one? Why or why not?

no way in hell. The only way that's even remotely possible is if super teams get out of control.

No way - can you imagine the uproar if Kobe was forced to leave L.A.? Or Derrick Rose being forced to leave Chicago?

I've thought about this before!

Of course I don't wanna see one anytime soon with my team in the position it is, but I think it'd be INSANELY nerve-wracking and awesome.

How would you determine who get's the first pick and so on?

I don't think a fantasy draft makes sense.

Lol I doubt it!

Has this ever been done in professional sports.

I don't think it will ever happen. Sounds like it would cause a mass mess of confusion with players incentives and minor details in contracts. How about ones with NTC, would they be able sue for breech of contract?

I think every contract would have to be voided for this to happen.

While we're discussing this, who do you all think would go first?

I say LeBron.

How you gonna pay Russell Westbrook 20m/year?

It could be ranked by play off wins over history? To even out history maybe?

I wish they would do that. The NBA is the perfect sport for it too.

LOL, nope. I think the Knicks would be quite angry after finally being able to get a superstar in Amare and a star in Melo just to lose one or both of them to this draft. Also as mentioned before, Rose leaving Chicago, Wade leaving Miami and Bryant/Griffin leaving LA would be the end to civilization as we know it :hide::guns:

that would be crazy. who gets the #1 pick and who would you pick number one. that question is a lot harder than you think it is. do you draft for your future or draft to win right now

Haha Funny because this is actually how I did my last Association on 2K .. In my head I had it made up that instead of a lockout they had a fantasy draft .

I went with the 14 teams not making the playoffs having a lottery (same as usual), but whichever team got it (in my ***. Raps got 1st pick), then I'd have Western, then East, and so on just to keep each conference somewhat even .

When it came to the playoffs I used this years 1st Rd. exits as a lottery, then 2nd rd., 3rd and Finals .. then went serpentine so realistically even the 25-30th pick had a great chance of having two superstars within the first 2 rounds .

I picked for each team (up to the 8th round) so I picked a position at a time for each team until each had a clear starting five, then the next 3 were role players .

I simmed most of the season and so far it has worked out pretty even that there as just as much, or actually more 20-30th pick teams were up there with 1-10, it basically all comes down to who they pick to play together so chemistry and styles are in play big time .

* It is a little time consuming going through each pick for 30 teams x 8, but it was cool to see the end result .

** I know this would never happen, but I saw this thread and was bored so I thought I'd share my idea .

By awesome I mean the fantasy draft itself would be awesome, not the aftermath.

It would be interesting. If they done it they would likely let each team protect some players, prolly like 2-3.

Would never happen, but to balance it, maybe the 30th pick gets 31st and also the first round rookie draft pick.

Yeah I'd say let each team protect 3 players and draft. But then it would be no fun. You'd have to have it only where each team could protect only 1 player.

I wonder who the Heat would keep. Or the Lakers. Or the Knicks. Hmmmm. lol

i'd make it so you could keep two players on your team, but you also have the choice to not keep the players and get better picks in the draft. but if you keep three players then you don't get a pick in the first three rounds, your pick will be skipped. lets say the heat keep lebron/wade. they don't pick til the low 3rd round. lets say the cavs don't keep anyone, they get a high pick in the first two rounds. i think it'd be a lot of fun to see, would never happen, but would be awesome

wjmoffatt
05-18-2011, 08:56 AM
It would be amazing if they did do it, let the lottery balls handle the situation, go most balls determined by championships, and then by playoff wins.

wjmoffatt
05-18-2011, 09:09 AM
1.) Durant
2.) Rose
3.) James
4.) Howard
5.) Griffin
6.) Westbrook
7.) Wall
8.) Melo
9.) Wade
10.) Ellis (think about his age compared to the stars in the league)

xbrackattackx
05-18-2011, 10:20 AM
If this happens they will be a tag to put on your star like would keep Westbrook and Durant and Heat Lebron and Miami. Knicks with melo and amare. It's kinda like teams that are almost there would benefit more.
