Who is your favorite player of all-time and why are they your favorite?

I'll start - My favorite is Bill Laimbeer. I grew up in the 80's and he was my hero. I got to meet him in 1989 and he took the time to talk with me and my family. I know he's not a hall-of-famer or anything, but he's still my favorite. One of the toughest players of all-time and had the heart of a lion. They don't make them like him anymore.

Hakeem Olajuwon for me.
I love unique players and Hakeem is one,his quickness and speed is unbelievable for a center,he has the best footwork of all time and the dream shake is the most beautiful move I have ever seen.
Magic and Dirk are second and third.

Hakeem for me, without question. My family always watched the Rockets growing up...and he was the man. Watching him lead the Rockets to those titles mafe me fall in love with basketball. Growing up and watching him again....amazing. He had so much skill. Broke the mold of a typical big man. He had cat-like reflexes and ridiculous footwork. He was humble and unselfish (after he became Hakeem) and played with class. He was everuthing you could dream about in a franchise player.

My favorite Players of NBA PLayers All-Time are as following:

Robinson
Duncan
Elliott

and of course Michael Jordan

I liked David Robinson when he first came into the NBA, he was/is the only reason why I am such a big Spurs fan. Hands down Robinson he is the perfect role model, they don't make them like him any more. I had the pleasure of knowing Sean Elliott while living in San Antonio and I must say this guy is a cool dude, you can't hate him because he is just that cool. I am glad he retired a spur and I was glad to see him get a ring. Tim Duncan, what more can be said I am going to miss him dearly when he finally hangs it up. I like Jordan for many many reason other than just basketball, which is why he is one of my all time favorites.....

"All my life I have failed....which is why I will suceed" - Jordan

Michael Jordan drew me to the game of basketball, Robinson, Duncan and Elliott made me a fan of it

NFL are:

Dan Marino

I love football because of this man thats all I need to say...

I am a die hard EAGLES FAN.....but Marino was/still my favorite player of alltime...

Kobe Bryant for me I really started watching the lakers the year when Karl Malone and Gary Payton came to LA I mean I watched 2-3 years prior to that but just not as consistently! And from then on I saw this number 8 kid jordans remix balling it up, dunking on people, showing off to the crowd, being cocky, hitting game winners, and from that moment I knew the black mamba was special, since that 2004 finals series ive seen almost every lakers game, I think I've only missed like 10-15 games and that's because I went to Mexico to visit or there was something really important I had to take care of! But yes kobe Bryant will forever be my favorite player, the greatest laker of all-time

hahaha NO. if it wasn't for leg injuries he probably would have. he played injured his entire senior year and at the end of it his body was shot.

if i'm not mistaken he was on the ORL. summer league team at one point. :laugh2:

Jordan, easily. I grew up during his career, he was easily the most influential athlete in my life.

Allen Iverson. to do what he did at 6'0(really 5'10-5'11) and dominate against bigger players was exciting. Stats aside he always played with heart and I give him much props to do what he did

GREAT PIC!!!! And the dude SHOULD be a HOFer in my book! He was the anchor for those championship Pistons! I got his rookie card ;-) lol He was what all centers should aspire to be: great defender, great rebounder, solid post move, great 3PT shot for the high pick and roll, and humble enough to play into the team. Man, he was amazing! With his offensive skills he could have demanded more touches, but he knew the best way to win was to share the ball. If he was playing today, there wouldnt be a center in the league who carried more imapct. The league misses guys like these.

As for my favorite, Bill is up there, Hakee, Dumars, Stockton, Robinson, Duncan, Hill, Rodman (yes, I love the guy), Miller, Darrell Walker, Moses, Russell, Mutumbo. Its hard to pick a fav because there are so many stand up guys who have really used their gifts for positive things. But those are the guys who I most enjoyed watching, and like generally as people. Oh, and Billups, Prince, Big Ben, and I love Rondo!

I'm surprised by this one, Sprewell was great, loved the sick energy he brought on the court. Think many peoples started to dislike him after that comment about feeding children, yet a very enjoyable player to watch.

For me it is Grant Hill and Penny - reason is pretty simple alway liked to watch players that made the game look smooth and effortless.

Yeah looking at your Avatar i guessed it might be about that. That NYK playoff run had something special in it after the disappointing season they sort of turned it around like in a movie and Sprewell played the role of redeemed villain very well.

John Starks... because he battled jordan and matched his heart and desire to win... didn't have the talent... or the ref calls.... but neither do I in my life... thats why I loved that dude the most.
