The Lakers just lost, game over, Kobe to the golf course, Phil to a long vacation.

Now Take a moment, be in shock, then realize this is the Lakers, and they are already retooling.

What will happen:
First Off its tiem to find a new coach, and not just any coach, Kobe has 3 elite years left, And this next coach will only be there until Kobe is done.
If all the stars align, here is an exciting Off season that I believe all Laker fans can be estatic about.
If all the stars align: Chance of Happening .01%
The Lakers grab the best coach in the country, Coach K out of Duke.
With Austin Rivers going to play at Duke next year, his father Doc, whose contract is up, will want to coach his son, leaving Coach K the perfect escape to the pro level, where he would walk in day 1 and compete for the title.
Now the roster, well it gets a huge huge make over.

3 Team Trade:
Lakers Trade: Ron Artest, Steve Blake
Lakers Receive: Andre Igouldala

Knicks Trade: Landry Fields, Tony Douglas, secound round pick
Knicks Receive: Ron Artest, Steve Blake

76ers Trade: Andre Igouldala
76er's Receive: Landry Fields, Tony Douglas, secound rounder

3 Team Trade
Lakers Trade: Andrew Bynum, Luke Walton, Pau Gasol
Magic Trade: Dwight Howard, Gilbert Arenas
ATL Trades: Josh Smith, Jeff Teague

Lakers Receive: Dwight, Gilbert, Josh Smith, Jeff Teague
Magic Receive: Bynum, Walton
Atl: Gasol

Now Lakers are not done, They use the Mid level exception and Add OJ Mayo because memphis wil let him go

As a last move, Rip Hamilton is bought out by the Pistons and he signs with the lakers for the league min

Lakers:
PG: Arenas/ Teague/ Fisher
SG: Kobe/ Mayo/ Rip
SF: Andre Igouldala/ Odom
PF: Josh Smith/ Odom
C: Dwight

Go ahead and laugh at the thread:
What may really happen is this --- 99.9%
Lakers relax, players regroup, an assistant coach is promoted
Lakers do add a OJ mayo, mid level player
Lakers compete for the title

Why would Hotlanta trade JSmoove for Gasol lol? or trade for Artest when they have Melo?
The next coach for the Lakers was already in the building, Brian Shaw

you may want to think twice when creating a new thread. one suggestion, the thread title should match the post. just some advice moving forward.

The tread title should be changed, As I was writing I went away on thoughts

As for Kareem, I spoke with him about 3 weeks ago, and his answer on coaching was he already coaches Bynum but hinted at a dislike for a head coaching spot

Knicks could play Artest at the 3
Melo at 4
Stat at 5 and play small

Gasol could put ATL ahead of other eastern teams he is better than Smith
But the Lakers need a man, and someone who could play off dwight

And I don't see ATL trading away their future point guard.

Sportfan
05-08-2011, 06:45 PM
And why the **** would Atlanta trade for Gasol's ****** contract plus give up Teague who's certainly part of their future?

Lindystud36

Gasol Can Put Atl over the top now

Guys the senario is not happening, hence the .01%
But it is a good segway into Laker speculation, and Phil Jackson's future

OJ Mayo is under contract next year. He will never be "let go", but he may be traded to the eastern conference

oh yeah and mayo is set to make $7 mil. next year. He would not take a paycut to play second fiddle to Kobe

I'll speak for the Knicks: we aren't trading Toney and Fields for a washed up Ron Artest and his ****** contract. We lose two good young players and the cap flexibility to sign CP3/Deron. We have zero interest whatsoever.

Coach K will never leave Duke. Josh Smith and Teaque won't be traded. Have you also heard of the salary cap?

I also just tried both of these trades on the trade machine and the both failed.

I would love to know what your definition of "elite" is, If you honestly think Kobe will be a superstar into his mid 30's, well than you haven't seen his decline over the past few years. His jumpshot and basketball IQ has kept him in the "superstar" status, but he's a shell of his former self speedwise and athletically....This team needs to start thinking of what "other" player this team can center their role players around buddy....
